I Heard of a Brand new Sega "Dreacast"2

Hey does any one miss Sega making consoles like the Sega Saturn or the Sega Dreamcast?

I know I do and I also heard a rumor that a new Cosole in in the process somwhere for Sega and itd modeled after the Dreamcast, with the price between the wii and 360. and will launch late 2009 or 2011.

So what do you think and/or know?

While the Dreamcast did have some fun games, I imagine whatever you saw was a fan based rumor or something like that, Sega said they were getting out of console development after the flop of Dreamcast and so far they seem to be doing well as a 3rd party game designer and I don't think that will change unless one or two of the current gaming giants go bankrupt providing a clear chance for a return, otherwise they aren't going to take the risk again just in order to have a bout w/ bankruptcy

I had the pleasure of talking with someone who actually works for Sega (fairly high up on the corporate ladder) at a party a couple of weeks ago, who, after a few drinks revealed some shocking news: There is no new Sega console in the works. They do, however, apparently have a room filled to the top with unopened boxes of every previous Sega consoles.

I think that is good, but its been surfacing little by little becoming real not fiction. Also pertaining to this fact is what Sega said before "At the current time we are not commenting on weather a new console is in development, however in the future by 4 years later we will see." well and about six to seven years later after the 360 is out for 1 year an 4 months they make a statement Saying that Sega is Stopping all production and pulling out of and making any Console and System Development.
but the fact is some one is making a new console for them unofficial or Top secret? No one knows truly. Other than who ever is making the newly Designed "DC-2" these past years.

So the publishers and editors say otherwise, that its out there some where.

I just don't believe it, first Sega Saturn flopped, then the dreamcast got knocked down by the ps2 and later kicked in the head by nintendo and microsofts emergence into the gaming industry, I think they do well as a 3rd party developer, but if they were to go back into gaming they have to have a system out by the end of 1st quarter 2009 that could put the Wii, Xbox360 and the PS3 to shame and a library of 30+ games on the initial release date w/ a minimum of 2 scheduled releases per month to make any kind of headway against the current gaming giants. But let's face it, even if they did, most people aren't going to jump on the bandwagon immediately which means initial sales of a new Sega console wouldn't be close to what they want them to be, and they are going to need more than just a handful of potentially strong titles to convince gamers to purchase a new system after a lot of us beggared ourselves trying to purchase the 3 current next-gen systems. Personally, if you're going to insist on perpetuating this particular rumor, I'd like to see some proof, in the form of some current official statement, not hearsay and gossip or an old interview that said nothing definitive.

The console market is too dominated by Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo to allow another competitor to come in with anything but huge losses. Sega's doing fine as they are, no need to go through another fiasco.
