If you're into fantasy, you may want to try "Tsubasa Chronicles" and "Xxxxholic". Both are surreal animes with great characters.

a real good anime that i am watching right now is called Shiki which is about a family of vampires that moves into a small remote village and start to attack the whole village turning everyone into vampires and spreading to the cites also it is funny sexy and a little gruesome at least i thought so. some other ones i like is death note which is about a very smart high school student finds a empty note book which he discovers that when he writes a name and/or details of their death it becomes real and uses the power to kill off every criminal on the planet to make the world a better place but things dont go as planed .also he sees a shigami the one who purposely dropped the book out of the sky for someone to find and use for his amusement and night head genesis is one i just started to watch so far its about these two brothers who have special abilities the young one can see the future by touching a person and the other brother can control things with his mind. at a young age for both of them their parents cant handle them and call researchers to take them in and the 2 boys are kept as prisoners there until fifteen years later they are able to escape and use their powers for good. and Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo also pretty good i thought. and one that looks good is fairy tail but have not seen it yet.

I recently just finished a anime called Puella Magi Madoka Magica and made by Magica Quartet, is a familar author with magic theme!
There are only 12 episode in this anime but the author really created a amazing world of magic girl! Which is known to all, the topic about magic girl are always perfect and warm,magic girls fight with something to protect our peace world. But this one give us a totally different axiology about those topic.
The main character called Kaname Madoka and she has many friends and antecessor,actually there are all trying to protect this girl from to be a magic girl,
and in the last two episode,Kaname Madoka become a magic finally then save her partner and the universe by sacrifice herself.And no one will remember once there is a girl called Kaname Madoka.
Actually I think this story is a tragedy and also give us a new axiology about friendship and love of ones families. In a word, this is a fantastic anime!!

you could try The Sacred Blacksmith, its a fantasy/adventure type of anime. plus it can be funny at times. its only 12 episodes long.
its kind of medieval themed, a lot of sword fighting, but theres an element of magic to it too. the characters are interesting and the animation is fantastic! its got a good story line. check it out. not enough people have heard of it!
