need help form artists!!!!!!!

HEY all !!!!
so i'm kinda new here and i checked out your cool GFX they are some really talented ppl here ... ^^
i have my own drawings too but the problem is that i don't use the PC to draw them ..call me old school but i use a pencile and paper .. in other words i don't know squat about GFX or any of that PC stuff T.T
how do i partecipate with you guys ???? really want to be a part of this great artistic community ^^
oh and do they have to be all anime ??
need an answer soon ^^;;

I don't draw on the computer. I don't have Photoshop or a tablet, and the only time I have access to them is when I'm at my Husband's family's house.

You don't need to CG to be a good artist.

And no, they don't have to be anime. The one drawing I posted on here was a drawing of a band my Husband and I love.

Here's my take (though I'm too critical of my art to post any)

I do some 3D CGI, and I always start with paper and pencil. recently what I've been doing is lettering and calligraphy, and black and white drawing. (inking with pens and brushes)

if you want to use your computer for art you must have a modern computer. dual core processor is a must, quad is nice if you have that kinda' money to spend, and at least a couple gigs of ram. if your running windows make sure you're not running 20,000 process all the time; which is solved by the monthly reformat)

other than that here is a basic supply list: pencil, paper, eraser (for outline sketches at the very least). on the pc Paintshop Pro (older is better) or Photoshop (elements is cheap and will work, but its probably a little more simplistic than is desirable) are standards, though the gimp is a free open-source alternative, though its not as powerful as photoshop are as easy to use as the older versions of Paintshop Pro.

a good scanner is a must have, and tablets are nice if you can fork up the cash, but they are not necissary (though you should have one or the other to work with your computer). if you want to draw on the computer, the thing you'll find most is that it is frustrating to draw with a mouse when you first start. you're basically learning a new way of using your computer, so don't despair keep at it.

if you want to go 3D you can fork out big bucks for professional quality stuff like Maya, 3D Max, lightwave, etc. or you could go for something like Cararra, which is pretty cheap (for 3d software) and is versatile, and good for learning how to work different modeling techniques. again if you want to start for free there's blender, but its ugly and I find it awkward, and it's simply underpowered for rendering purposes. then there are specialized programs like Poser, which makes doing humans a breeze. and you still will need photoshop or the like for putting texture maps on top of the models you make, or they'll be grey and ugly.

of course, if you're in college and in an art class or a computer class, or maybe just for being a student you can get a lot of this kind of software for free, or at the very least on a student license, which is a lot cheaper, though it limits what you can do with it (essentially make money on anything you create, though there is more than that.)

If you just take your drawing that you have drawn with pencil and fold up the paper, then jam it into the extension ports on your motherboard, the drawing should show up on your desktop as a Jpeg.

unless ur using a mac. then open the cup holder fold ur drawing into a cup, put it on the cup holder, and close. then it will show up on ur dock as a tiff.

but i'm thinking about bying a new lap so i'll try to get most of the softwear you said thanks a lot

Koopaking i would try your way but the paper is too big and i don't only use pencile i use dry pasteles so i don't think it'll ork ..hehehehe XD

use a scanner and then go to the graphic design and art hall to upload your pictures thats what i'll do soon once i get a floppy disc...or find my old one because my hand drawn pictures are better than my computer drawn...well i hoped i helped
