This game revealed as of a few months ago has gotten some new details: I've actually not heard anything about it before, but it sounds pretty interesting. Disney's lesser known characters rise up and revolt against the top mouse Mickey in an effort to de-throne him.

The artwork is also impressive, being highly detailed and showing a ruined world under Mickey's rule, though other pictures show you controlling a black and white character. If it looks interesting, leave a comment.

definitely something that has my attention, a dark outlook on disney, i like it, seeing how dark it seems in the illustrations is also kinda surprising!

didnt think id ever see a battle between disney characters, and not like kingdom hearts, this one seems to take that extra step!

but like always ill wait for more word and reviews!

Some more pictures has come out that you might be interested in, as well as an interview about the game. The first link shows one of the foes that you will meet, who is fighting against... Mickey?? I thought that's who we were supposed to take down?

The second link talks more about the game itself, saying that you will be playing mickey, but the way you play the game and how you beat the levels will determine his appearance towards the end of the game.

This link is a 5 page article on the game from gaming magizine and website Game Informer, and the kinds of mickeys you could end up with show on page 4, showing an almost purely black and white mickey while wearing dark toned colors of his shoes and shorts, hunched over like Gollum. The second mickey is glossed head to toe with a yellow shine where his whites are, still slightly haunched over. The third mickey is the current mickey that we see today, with gold colored gloves and vibrant colors. They also each have different colors on the painbrush they use.


Looking at the photos, I'm guessing that the game will have 3-D backgrounds and levels with 2-D platforming (See: Klona on Playstation)

So far it's looking really interesting, but there's still question on wether or not it's a DL title or a disk/console title (It will probably be DL, I'm guessing), and I'd like a bit more clarification on the story.

Well yeah.... He is the main character and the others are lowly Minor Characters...

Mains always hold that against the Minors.... Yeah, just like that.

They even get paid more to do less, or not a thing at all.

Well. after the update to this thread I posted, I was pretty much wrong. It seems to be that everyone just is out to get Mickey, so I mis-read what was going on in those first articles, it's not a totalianistic state with Mickey in charge. I'm still confused though with some of those pictures in the first post showing a character nothing like mickey

Well I was just reading my boyfriends game informer (I'm not a big gamer myself but I like to play now and again) and I was able to read the article about epic mickey. I'm actually really excited to see it come out. If read everything right then you are playing mickey in the story and you are battling against a bunch of forgotten Disney characters including Oswald the Rabbit (I'm assuming that this is the character that you are getting mixed up with Mickey) He was Walt Disney's character before Mickey and he was kind of popular when he first came out but to make a long story short Walt Disney's partner tried to screw him over and ended up with the rights to Oswald the Rabbit and the cartoon pretty much tanked after that. Walt Disney keeps doing what he's doing and comes up with Mickey. In the game Oswald is like Mickey's older brother. He's resentful that his "younger brother" came along and stole his fame and fortune away and became their father's (Walt Disney's) favorite. He looks a lot like Mickey but he has long ears like a rabbit.

More info has been released for the game including a detailed preview which finally explains the plot. The more I read about Epic Mickey the more interesting it gets, but it's still confusing.
