Banner Request

I'd like to put a banner/sig at the bottom of my blog, and I figured local talent would be as good a source as any. I've seen some of the sig's around, and I know there are some very good graphic artists here. *eyes Spirit*

I don't have any particular image requirement. The color scheme for the blog page is a creamy brown/burnt brown/white/blue spectrum--think old parchment--so the banner should complement that. The width should be 500-600px, and the height anywhere from 300-500 I think.

As for theme or concept, it's open to the artist. If it will help you to know what I'm into, I love serious anime, dark/gothic/otherwise grim atmospheres, psychology, introspection, drama, science fiction, all kinds of music, martial arts, history, and ancient weaponry, among other things. Anything interesting and engaging, anything that illicits thought or reflects a unique perspective.

Be creative, have fun with it. Just don't make it too girly--there are three dudes posting on this blog. ^_^

Great banner. The central focus is clear and grounded by the rest of the pic. The color scheme is simple, but the shades mesh brilliantly; and their placements help layer the artwork instead of making it seem monochrome. I also like the conceptual framing of the metallic, blade-like objects on each side of the background: it makes me wonder what chaotic, mysterious, or dangerous things the focal character is involved with. Ad the subtlety of the blood element is a nice touch - it's just enough to appear significant and lend to the dark nature of the piece, yet sparse enough to avoid excess and to stimulate, rather than dull, the imagination.

Two thumbs up! :)

(I'm in no way a critic of pieces like this, so my review is probably too uneducated to hold weight. But I still love it. ^_^)


EDIT: I suppose one of the only things I might say against it, is that the metal figures and same-sized moon create a kind of clunky, blocky feel to the artwork. Everything is on the same level, and exists in the same manner on the graphic. It doesn't seem cluttered, but less smooth and dynamic than it could.
