Hi everyone.

This is probably not going to interest most of you, but to the crowd that it does interest... Please take this into consideration. Thank you.

I am posting this from a fan's viewpoint and a fan's viewpoint only. I am hoping to cut back on the illegal viewing of Anime online by sharing the facts about the Anime portion of the entertainment industry and how much it is being effected from torrenting and illegal viewings.

As an example... Very simply put, the Entertainment Industry is made up of the theatrical productions, movies, radio, newspapers, magazines, music, anime, etc...

Of all of those areas, the anime portion of the industry makes up a meager %1, yet it is stolen from the most if you compare the size of each of the industries.

For example... Say the Movie Industry makes $1 Billion in one year. Maybe $50 Million of that is pirated from. Now say the Anime Industry also makes $1 Billion a year. $750 Million of that would be lost to pirating.
That is not to scale by any means but it sums it up.

If the Anime Industry is stolen from for much longer it is going to die. With in roughly 3 years, the American Anime Industry is going to die off. Anime companies that are already struggling with the piracy and the illegal viewing are not going to have the sufficient funding to be able to produce dubbed American anime.

I can not stress enough that this is from a fans point of view and is in no way related to anything else other than my enjoyment of anime.

I really do hope that I have maybe helped slow down the rate at which the industry is degrading.

I hope that some of you will spread the word and try to help make a difference.

And then what? You think you have all the answers? Think again.... only in the US Anime is not legalized completely. In Japan, you have tens of billions of dollars worth industry, and no one is missing US... so let us enjoy before it get mainstreamed.

You make some great points, but I doubt that your forum post is going to change anything at all, much less save the anime industry. You didn't post anything to back up the facts that you have stated, a big mistake. You can post about it all you want, but you got to do something better than that if you want even a glimmer of hope of having even a marginal effect on the situation.

I know I am not going to save the anime industry with my single post... even by myself for that matter.. It would be amazing if I did but in reality it won't happen.

To reply to savke. No, I do not have all the answers and I never stated that I did. About your other statement about the US and Japanese Anime Industry... I'm not following what you said completely to be honest with you, but I am in no way talking about the anime industry being illegal. I am talking about the illegal viewing of it which is preventing most people from supporting the shows they like.

In reply to Demon Soul. I have not actually had the opportunity to put much effort into finding any visual data to back this up. Everything that I have stated has been verbally said from many professional anime voice actors. I am currently in the process of finding visual data but being completely honest with you it is not as easy to find since no one official in the anime industry has released such a thing. (To my knowledge)

As soon as I find it I will post it. That is assuming that my account doesnt get locked and/or banned before then. I am positive that it will be banned eventually.

Until then I am going to keep active replies on these threads.

Well, since you are not following, let me explain. US anime industry is just growing and it's ages behind Japanese anime industry, and that is why no one cares about watchin videos online. Especially in the US. If you take Japan in consideration, their market is well developed, and anime industry is not going to die! POINT!

I am grateful for whatever time that I am allowed to post on this forum. That just tells me that your not completely closed minded or whatever you would want to call and I can respect that. I am just glad that you allow me to keep one thread alive.

Most sites like AF that I have seen are fan-subs, NOT stolen or pirated anime. Some is of coarse, but most isn't. If the American Anime industry wasn't so slow and greedy with releasing anime at a price that the target audience could afford, this problem would not exist. The desire of the die hard anime fan to view and ability to purchase new anime are underestimated and overestimated. We want to watch more but can't afford $15 to $25 for three to four episodes of the shows we want to watch. So we turn to sites like this one to feed our desire to watch the shows and art form that we love so much.
