I think this depends on the person's psychical side and personality.

Let's say.... an extrovert person would rather ask questions, instead of answering them.
where An introvert would rather wait for a question to answer it.

But I would observe the whole room, looking for all possible questionable informations. waiting for THE question, and when that comes I would have the answer ready, on top of that,you'll probably get some credit for answer not for asking.

I'd like to be the wise man on the mountain one day. Doling out answers to dedicated travelers who seek my guidance. That probably won't happen until electrical sockets are installed in mountain sides. I guy can dream though.

Ultimately, the only reason to ask a question is to find the answer. Otherwise nobody gets anywhere. So, if the answer is given (assuming the question was already posed, so to speak), the objective of the search is fulfilled and truth is revealed. And eight times out of ten, I'd rather know the truth than wander around in perpetual mystery; without truth, without the answer, one has no real context in which to live.

(The other two of the ten times, mystery is fun and exciting--but after the wonder wore off, I think I'd still want to know the answer at some point, the reality of things. And who says truth can't be supremely wonderful anyway?)

Of course we would like to know the answer. But the question is which one would we provide. So, providing the answer means either knowing the truth and expressing it or having an assumptions you believe to be the truth but being really off. So, I would really like to know the answer but if not, I would provide the question. Besides, as mentioned earlier, you can provide the answer with another question (rhetorical)!
