Doomsday is upon this generation!!! From the Mayans and their prophetic calendar to Nostradamus to Edgar Cayce the greatest 20th century prophet, all point to a certain date, December 21 2012. All of them are saying that this will be the end of something and the beginning of something else. The Mayan calendar ends abruptly at 12/21/2012, which is the date of the great galactic alignment, where our solar system will be in total alignment with the center of the universe. Nostradamus wrote that the end will come and that the dead will rise on or near that date. Edgar said that the planetary alignment will shift, or in other words, the south pole and the north pole will switch causing massive damage to electronic devices, satellites, EVERYTHING. The Bible and Nostradamus calls for the end of days during this time with the coming of the Anti-Christ and the beginning of the end. Whats everyones thought on this?

I understand that there has been doomsday scares before but none of them have had all the signs the prophets had called for, happen like the 2012 doomsday. In other words the prophecies are coming alive, as we speak breath and live. The signs are everywhere, all which were predicted 5 decades ago to thousands of years ago. I believe something will happen. The end of mankind or the Earth itself I am not certain of, but with the signs all coming true I can not ignore this any longer and am now taking steps to try to survive this and hopefully try to influence this event, cause a lot of the prophecies say that we are in control of this time and what we do will determine out destiny and that we MUST ACCEPT THIS DESTINY AND MOVE ON! The way I see it is humanity is at a crux, a point where we can fall or rise. So far we have been, in a sense, living like a teenager, fully aware of ourselves but still young and reckless and prone to do utterly stupid things and at 2012 we will either come of age or die trying. I want to put my faith in humanity, hope that we can finally grow up and become what we are meant to become, take the right path toward our doom/destiny/fate. I pray that we won't be blinded by fear, greed and hate. So what does everyone think?? Is it going to happen as said by the many prophets, or is this some stupid hoax?

I do find it incredibly fascinating that over all this time, in all these civilizations, with all these predictions, they all somehow point towards 12/21/12... This is impossible to happen by coincidence... or is it?

I too think that something will happen. Although, it may not be exactly what we think. My theory is that there is no special significance of 2012, and nothing would happen if left alone BUT humanity has been clamoring at the thought of this date so long and making conjectures and preparing so much that their commotion will cause something to happen. Whatever happens, I believe humans will be the cause - something like a turnover of world power, or a nuclear war, rather than a cataclysmic natural or cosmic disaster.

LOL I remember that thread! Well in due course we will see. All I know is I'm going to be 28 when it happens and I plan on having NO kids until after it.

I saw some special on how the world was going to end due to like... solar flares and the flipping on the north and the south poles, or something like that. The poles are supposed to flip sometime between now and the next millennium, but to pinpoint a certain date is about as accurate as throwing darts at a board that's infinitely large. The mormons predicted the world will end in the 1980s, others predicted the world will end when 2000 hit, and guess what. NOTHING HAPPENED.

Dates and time is something completely invented by humans and only work if you're on Earth. Saying something will happen at a certain date is completely bonkers. I'm as likely to believe 2012 as I am the crazy bible guy at my university who predicted that the world will end, and may he add that nothing this catastrophic could be pinpointed precisely, on August 29th 2009, some time between 3 and 5pm. Mark it down ladies and gentlemen.

Simple really, they ran out of rock

And because of that most of the humanity has been inclined to believe the world will end there.
But they do say there will be a Nuclear Strike in the U.S. by then, causing retaliations and confusion and chaos creating a Nuclear war.
Meh, whatever, just move to a minor country that year and you'll be fine.(Warning, minor country must be far from any major country or your destruction will be more probable)
And with all that, its the perfect oportunity for one or more terrorist groups to go nuts, so yeah, as K2 said, it will pretty much fepend on people's actions rather than natural causes.

I've heard this date before. The thing that fascinates me about this is the positioning of the Earth relative to the stars. There might be something in this. Many ancient cultures before ours such as the Mayans, etc. used the astrological calendar to time their rituals some of which were used as a rituals for spiritual cleansing. When the shamanic tribes around the world was systematically killed off and the Gregorian calendar replaced the old calendar it is said that we lost that ability to synch with Earth and each other as we all share one consciousness.

Or it could be just random rocks in space aligning up every once in a while. 2057 is another date of significance (it was the date that the movie 'Sunshine' was set as well)... so who knows...
