Vampire mafia

This is a project of mine. note that
1)it's not finished (first draft)
2)it's very passive aggressive, boring in other words, the killing starts later.

My name is Sven Ţepeş Dracula. I am the third generation of the great vampire, Vlad Dracula. I reside, sadly, not in the European countryside of my ancestors, but in the city of New York. Where, there is such things that go beyond the average human's imagination. In this jungle of steel and glass Christmas trees there is no more room for the way we used to operate. Now we are forced to band together, and even recruit humans, this is the underground of the darkest reaches of the city. We are a mafia, a mafia of things that go “bump” in the night.

The Dracula family stretches across the world. We have abandon our European heritage and have been forced to blend with the new world. We do not even entirely consist of vampires, there are werewolves, ghouls, and even some thugs that were nasty enough to make their way in.

“Sir,” said the butler one night at my desk “I'm afraid there has been an unfortunate incident involving your sister, Yolanda. She's dead.” It was no big loss, but it was a major one. It made me the sole remaining member of the Dracula family. This means that it was now necessary for me to find a candidate for the fourth generation. “How did she die?” I asked. “Spontaneous combustion.” He replied. Yolanda was a damn fool, She hardly ever drank blood, it was only a matter of time until she starved to death.

“Prepare my car, I have a trip to make.” I told him. It was imperative that I go and receive all her possessions. She had a number of heirlooms that contain dark magics that would be bad for humans to discover. We drove to the mansion, right outside of town and easily accessible.

It was grand, as expected of all mansions. It was, of course mine as the sole remaining member of the bloodline. Entering through the large vaulted doors one was greeted by a warmly lit and stylish decor centered around a grand marble staircase. Her room was of course just as grand, decorated with plenty of colors of cloth. Red and gold seemed to be the dominant colors though. There was her piano off in one corner, and several bookshelves in another. A dresser with a gold urn on it too. The urn, no doubt would soon contain her ashes.

Several men cleared the most valuable things from the manor. The question remained what to do with it. I was quite happy with my own mansion in the same neighborhood. I called up Ray, one of my best lieutenants, despite him being a human. I left the house and all that was inside to him. Unlike previous bosses I Tended to treat my human associates a lot better. Ray was trustworthy for a human, he never once doubted my actions, never once faulted in carrying out orders, and always gave the best morale to the men.

I needed to arrange for all the candidates for the next heir to present to me by tomorrow night. Ray would handle it. We kept several members of the organization under watch for such reasons. Ones that would not be corrupted with immortality and power. My best candidate was a boy of rather young age, 16 he was. A New Yorker, hard working individual. After his family was assassinated by the mafia he came on our doorstep and begged us to let him in. At fist the decision was no, but he pulled off an amazing feat, he robbed a bank and made away with quite a sum of money. He has only been with us for a year, but already holds a lot of respect.

The second best, almost a tie with the first, was a spunky kid. 21 years old, he was a top assassin. The only problem was his temper. He acts too quickly without thinking. While a strong fist is required, so is clear judgment. But he has experience of how it works more than a kid of 16 could ever understand.

We arrived back at the base headquarters on the coast just north of the city. This was a part-time residence while I had work to do, or my life was threatened. Not that I needed to worry about something like that. What I did need to worry about however, was food. Yolonda was too kind too drink blood. That's what killed her. If a vampire does not drink he loses his power. He becomes a corpse, and then burns up.

I was brought a man that was caught trying to pick-pocket one of the members. He was captured and brought here. He was rather calm as I talked to him about current affairs. When the time for petty small-talk had ended he was cut up and served on a silver platter. Me and my vampire lieutenants dined together often, ll the flesh on one human is too much for just one sitting for one vampire. My three most trusted vampires were Vlad, Nelson, and Paul.

Vlad was an eastern European such as myself. He was some 10 years older than me. He looked about forty, even though he was much closer to 60. Grey hair and a long sheep like face, he was always calm and could handle himself well. Nelson looked a lot like a rat. He had a very long nose with thick grey hair. He looked to have a snout. He was dependable though. A great financial tactician. Paul, or Paulie as he is often called, was a man of excess. He loved sex drugs and violence, the dark side of the glorious American life. He had a round face, while the other two were lanky he had a nice amount of meat on him, he wasn't obese, just thicker than the others.

“So we were doing a hit on these one guys ya see, and we walk up to him and 'ee asks me 'Is there a problem sir?' Well I say 'yah, does this taste like lead to you?' and I shoot 'im in the mouth. 'is head exploded into a million tiny chunks, it was beautiful, like a fuckin' fireworks display” Paul always told stories of how he “climbed the ladder” by killing certain individuals in his horribly stereotyped Italian accent.

“No, let me tell you, one guy is nothin' compared to when you in a firefight with a whole bunch o' coppers, and ya rake 'em down with a tommy. Bullets flyin' everywhere!” Nelson liked chaos a lot, he loved it when things went boom.

Vlad simply observed the conversation about which type was best. He was an awful silent person. He knew his place. Never provided unwanted input.

As you can tell this is an introduction chapter.
