Rebirth

5.4.3.2.1. Lift off! Those were the words everyone heard. Those were the words that told everyone,"here's another search for life" Yet, I wonder, is life really what we're looking for? Can all life live like us. Like the life on Earth? I find that unlikly. Even we, humans, aren't all the same. Nothing is excatly the same. Everything is unique.

Then, our search ended. Why? Because the answer we were looking for presented itself to us......That's right. They came to Earth. Other life came down. However, it wasn't all cheering and excitement. No, they came down with fire in thier palms. It rained bullets and destruction was everywhere. Once cities of great renown crumbled before the enemy. Was this what we were looking for?

Then, after 5 days, we saw our destruction. The wepon that would end this battle. It was nothing but a cannon. That's right, a cannon. Yet, we knew full well that it was the end. Then, boom..............all eyes were up at the great ball of fire in the sky. The final moments of mankind. It was an amazing sight. Even as it came down to meet the Earth, I couldn't help but look in awe at our demise.

Impact, how terrible it was, the Earth flew out like if a meteor had hit. The fireball went deep. The Earth buckled and then the wall came, the wall of debris. It washed over eveyone and everything. And, they all were destroyed. It came closer to me. And, I ran. I ran faster than I ever ran before. Then, I felt my foot hit something and fell down. I then relised that I fell into a ditch. I stayed and the wall passed over me. Was it luck? I don't know. I survived. And, to my astonishment, the very wall was the reson why I lived on. As it passed, rocks within it fell down towards me. However, the ditch was to small for them. They ended up covering me from the heat and power that followed soon after. They had made a shell for me! Then, silence.......................................noth ing moved. Had timed stoped? I asked myself his question. Then, a ray of light. It came from a small opening between 2 rocks. I peered through it and found that I was alone, not any life remained but me.

Suddenly, the ditch I was in gave way below me. " Arrg!' I shouted as I fell." Thump" I hit something..." ouch." I moaned as I felt the pain come. I had definatlky hit something, but what? I opened my eyes to see where I was. Understanding followed soon after as I relised what had happened. The ditch gave way under my weight. It opened up to an undergroud cave that seemingly survived the cracking and splintering of the Earth. I looked to my right and I saw that this wasn't luck, it was fate! I pool of water! Unbelivible! I bent down to drink. Cold, fresh water cooled the insides of my mouth. " ahhhhh" I sighed with relife. This place was my salvation! I survived the attack because I accidentely stubbled into that ditch! Then, I felt it, the sorrow. the sadness. I was alone. But, I quickly cooled myself down. 'No!" I thought. Past events should not be dewlled upon. What happened came to be and I would not feel sorrow because of it. So, 2 years went by, 2 years in that cave living off the pool of water and scurring underground animals that survived the attack. I had become a dark and solitary person. I guess after 2 years in a place such as a cave, you would be lucky not to go mad. Then, the day came when I would return to the surface.

It began with me exploring the cave. I found an opening not far off from where I first landed. "How could I have missed this?" I asked myself. I climbed into the opening and followed the single path it provided. After what I would guess was about 20 minutes, I saw, for the first time in 2 years, light. I went towards it. And emerged in a blinding flash of whiteness. I have to tell you, it hurt. My eyes hurt so much I could feel myself crying. After about a minute, I could start to make out shapes from the white light. Yet, these where not rocks, they were something else, they were trees. Yes! Trees! How amazed I was at this. Then, one quick scan of the area showed that I was surrounded by trees! I was in a forest!
