Last One Standing Wins: Part Three

Captain Byers woke to the sound of an explosion. He dazedly looked over to his left to see the shattered remains of the helicopter. The helicopter was engulfed in flames as smoke rose through the air. So much for our way out of here, Captain Byers thought. Captain Byers noticed what appeared to be a man lying against a wall. A propeller blade was impaled through his stomach. Probably the pilot… Poor bastard, Captain Byers guessed as a sad smile formed for his fallen comrade. Several other bodies laid scattered around the small parking lot the helicopter had crashed in. " Everyone okay? " Captain Byers asked in a scratchy voice. Each body gave out a weak yes, or just a simple grunt to answer his question. Good, I just need to get over there and help them, he thought. " Where's a medic when you need one, “ He mumbled as he began lifting himself off the ground. He slowly began walking towards his teammates, while keeping a close eye out for any approaching Lamia. About halfway to his teammates the sound of footsteps began to ring out from a nearby alley. Captain Byers stopped moving and began to listen. He knew exactly what was coming, Lamia. Wonderful, I don’t even have a decent weapon to kill them with. Captain Byers quickly laid flat on the ground, trying to act as lifeless as possible.

Three large Lamia soldiers came trotting out of the alley. “ Ha ha! Birdie is burning!” Exclaimed the second Lamia soldier as it pointed at the flaming helicopter. “ Yes! But what about puny humans?” Asked the first Lamia soldier as it licked its lips. “ We eat them stupid,” remarked the third Lamia soldier. The three Lamia began heading towards the downed soldiers at a fast pace. This isn’t good… Got to think fast, Captain Byers told himself. He hastily began looking for anything to distract the oncoming Lamia. In a desperate attempt, Captain Byers grabbed a jagged rock and aimed. The rock sailed through the air before crashing into the first Lamia. “ Ah! Who threw rock?!” Shouted the Lamia in an angry voice. “ It look like it come from there,” Answered the third Lamia. “ Then go look dummies!” Yelled the first Lamia as it clutched the bleeding side of its head. The two other Lamia were headed right at Captain Byers.

Oh great, here they come. Better hope this works, Captain Byers nervously thought to himself as the two Lamia drew near. Captain Byers hurriedly positioned his right hand on the handle of his combat knife. The second Lamia walked over the Captain Byers and tapped him on the head with its foot. “ Is crap-walker dead?” The second Lamia asked the other. The moment Captain Byers had been waiting for had arrived. He pulled out his combat knife from the satchel and jabbed the blade right above the Lamia’s foot. “ Stupid crap-walker! I’ll smash you!” The Lamia roared in pain. The Lamia raised its foot, ready to crush Captain Byers’s skull. Captain Byers rolled out of the Lamia’s way, barely dodging the crushing blow. He flung the knife as the Lamia, piercing it in the heart. “ Ugh… I’m bleeding…” The Lamia muttered as it hit the ground. “ Ah, stupid little man! You die!” Yelled the other Lamia as it pulled out a sawn-off shotgun. Captain Byers quickly whipped out his pistol, firing once, but missing the Lamia and hitting a lamppost instead. “ Die little man!” The Lamia yelled as it fired one shot at Captain Byers. As Captain Byers ducked to the ground dodging the first, the Lamia fired the second round at him.

Captain Byers had no time to react. The bullet whizzed straight at him, making contact in his back. It embedded itself deep, leaving a large bloody hole behind. Captain Byers face became filled with agony as he resisted the urge to scream in pain. Better kill this one fast or he’ll do it first, he painfully thought. He shakily raised his gun at the Lamia firing one round, then another. He fired round after round until there was only a single round in the clip. The Lamia gave a final surprised gasp before stumbling to the ground. So much for that one, Captain Byers thought as he put his gun away. That left the last Lamia. Where was it though, Captain Byers asked himself. He quickly scanned the area for the final Lamia. No sight of it. Probably ran off, he suspected. Suddenly, Captain Byers heard a load roar coming from above. The Lamia jumped down from a nearby rooftop and began charging at him at an alarming speed. “ Come here crap-walker!” The Lamia yelled in fury. Captain Byers yanked out his gun, but was tackled and thrown to the ground before he had time to even aim. The Lamia began hitting him in the head and chest, leaving swollen bloody marks with each hit. Captain Byers attempted to raise his gun and fire but the Lamia noticed this action and stomped down on his hand. The pain forced Captain Byers to release his gun from his grip. Picking it up, the Lamia gave a cruel laugh as it checked the clip for any remaining rounds. Cocking it back, the Lamia raised the gun at Captain Byers head. “ Bye bye Crap-walker,” The Lamia said as a twisted smile formed over its face. The sound of a gunshot rang out through the parking lot…

EVIL CLIFFIE!!!!!!! That was just evil, and intense, and..... something else. I am seriously amazed that Byers is still alive after that shot. I mean, that really should have ended his life then and there. Very nice piece here, Mem.
