This question may appear simple but the fact is it is so complex some could just not understand it. We all no that pointless killing, drugs and prostitution are all evil. But wars are fought on the ground of religion, belifs, and people. So fighting wars are good but the other side may see it as evil. We all have our own reasons for doing things some are evil intentions and others just as evil but maybe backed up with good intentions witch would make it good in some eyes. So the ability to tell good from bad/evil would have to vary from person to person and what they believe.

This question is truly very grey as opposed to the typical black and white debates. What I mean by this is that what is considered good and evil is judged by the eye of the beholder. This meaning that what one person may view immoral and cruel, another person may view it to be necessary for the greater good. Any way you look at it or approach the situation there will always be people who think what I think may be injust/evil, or vice versa. Furthermore, as partyprobe stated some acts are generally considered evil by the norm of society such as drugs, murder, and prostitution. However, in some cases that may not be the case. For example, in some religious cultures hallucinogenics are an essential part to their religious rituals and they are considered holy rather than evil or tainted if you will. Again, the example even murder can be self portrayed as an act for the greater good, Adolf Hitler thought that by extinguishing the Jewish race the entire world would benefit, while the majority of the world (including me) thought it was heartless, evil, and despicable. Finally with prostitution some people view it to be necessary if they have no other choice in life, or they actually view it to be normal. In closing, everyone has a different view, and no matter how wrong or evil one persons ideals may seem, it may be a completely different situation for them.

If Evil is a perception then the only thing considered evil would be decided by the highest authority that people believe in. If there is no higher authority outside of man by that i mean no God then nothing is evil and sin is also another concept made by man. The Idea that Evil is a perception but the truth is that most Humans consider certain things Good and certain things Evil. This idea also leaves the thought that somehow the Holocaust was not evil in some light.

That is true. If there is no God or any similar Higher Authority, then there is no good and evil. These concepts were created my man in order to be able to live and survive in a society but hold no other meaning or purpose.

However, i do not think that is right. We feel guilty about an evil deed. Is it because we were brought up to believe in these concepts? It might be but I don't think so. Besides, I don't think some guys just classified certain actions as evil just because they would let the society prosper, they had a reason.
For example, killing a person is considered evil, not because it will reduce the population number, but because we cannot take someone else life away. Life is precious, this, I think, most people agree on by instinct.
