The Specialist

I tend to be a believer that most everyone has a specialty, something out of hobby or occupation that most people wouldn't be so attuned to. This thread is an HQ for our specialties, a rendezvous where we can spread a little knowledge that we've spent so much time developing and perhaps enrich one another's lives. I'm not out to put restrictions on anyone, and so if this turns into a free for all, so be it. Feel free to feed us anything from,perhaps, your knowledge of fine wines and foods to your know how on musical instruments. Your keen eye for craftsmanship or even your synchronicity with an art. Perhaps we can enlighten one another with our interests or with those bits of wisdom that we otherwise would've found to be useless.

Two of my great interests, amongst others, happen to be photography, which I do professionally, and tea, which I love and demand a certain level of perfection from myself. And while both tend to be rather popular the world around, they're often done rather lazily and thus lose their potential.
Ask away if you'd like to know some pic tips or how to make a humbly pleasant cup of tea.

If you have been following the songs I post in "Songs!!" thread you will see the majority of my songs that I post are all in the techno/trance genre. Theres just something about it that I cant explain and it's grip on me is obvious. I remember knowing about techno and stuff before hand but I didn't know what it was really like until I heard the first song Alice DJ - Better Off Alone when I was 16. Thats where it all began. It wasn't an instant love but more of a gradual thing which didn't fully blossom until I was about 19 and now I'm in love with it. I can go hours and hours listening to the stuff. I've been following the music for years now, watching dozens if not hundreds of shows in parties, clubs and raves. I know who the best artist are(in my opinion) and where to find the best underground. I know its history, where it came from and what it's doing right now. I know my world is a small world, something along the lines of a few millions, if it's even in the millions, in the whole world that listens to it like I do. I've studied how to be a DJ from friends and good teachers and I have played a few times in underground arena's, which were some of my most exciting experiences. My ultimate goal is to be a world renowned producer but I'll be happy with just playing in any scene as long as I get to play the music people will dance to. To see the crowd dancing and jumping to the music I play is a bigger rush to me then getting laid, its freaken awesome. This music is my life and I'll die listening to it.

Hm.. I can't say I have special talent. But I want to be good in lots of things what I like, for example drawing, dancing, writing. Maybe my mind is my special part. My imagination, I'm proud of it, I love it. Dreaming is essential for me.

If I can think of something else I will come back and share it.

I think the main problem with people responding to this thread is the age of our members. A lot of you haven't had time to go out and find out what you want to do yet or havent really found something that you really really like yet. There may be interests in things but it hasn't really cultivated yet.

well that could be true, but there is still something to be had from the wisdom of a child. I had interests and hobbies as a child that out of the realm of the typical adult, so I expect that some of us likely have something of an expertise, however minute it may be. plus with only 3 of us in here posting it's a little rough to gauge at the moment.

I'm saying that cause theres been 19 or more views on this thing. That means a lot of the people that can see this and respond have done so, or they are just to lazy. I'm not trying to bring you down analog it's just these people NEED TO WRITE SOMETHING TO MAKE THIS WORK!! COME ON FOLKS!! Wheres everyone at??

I've been pondering what to respond with here, because I'm not entirely sure I do have a specialized skill (and lee, I'm about to turn 26, age doesn't have much to do with it).

I suppose I can say I'm good with computers or something seeing as how I've been doing tech jobs since I was 15, but that doesn't especially seem like a skill as much as just a job. The only thing I can really think of as a specialized skill for myself is my writing.

I am constantly reading, absorbing, changing and shaping the way I think of words. How they fit together, how to say something in a much more elaborate manner than need be. This is not because of a need to be superior to others, I find it to be a challenge to myself. I personally find being able to articulate yourself is a very useful skill to have, and knowing how to do it well gives you an upper hand in life.

I'm not saying I'm perfect at it either, obviously I make my fair share of grammatical mistakes, but I still believe I have a fairly solid grasp on words and how/when to use them. Would this be considered something specialized? I'm not entirely positive...

Well maybe specializing in drawing and dancing what's most near to me. I'm starting to have my own style in drawing I'm not just mimicing other pictures. And I'm working hard to get in the Budapest acrobatic rock 'n roll dance contest with my group.

I specialize in music, mostly being able to pick up how to play something by ear and eye a lot faster than most people can do with the music right in front of them on paper. I find that an invaluable skill in band. I also have great lock pick skills, though they have gotten rusty in the years I have not used them.
