I was not really surprised when obama won. I was a but relieved as well. I still maintain that if McCaine had won Palin planed to arrange for his to "disappear" and then turn the U.S. into a theocracy.

Still, I doubt it was because she was a woman. I mean, Barack beat Hillary. I think what the McCain campaign was really looking for was "lively and young", it just so happens that women often fit that category--and it also happened that Palin was the definition of that. Obviously, it wasn't the best approach.

I really do believe that she was chosen because she was a woman, just look at how much she used it, she quoted someone saying "there is a special place in hell for a woman who won't vote for another woman". Fuck off Palin, we like to vote on politics not on gender.

I heard it on a radio show (and it was clearly her), I'll see if I can't find it on the internet...

I did find it, apparently she was misquoting someone else:

"Now she said it, I didn't," Palin said of Albright. "She said, ‘There's a place in hell reserved for women who don't support other women.'"

As it turns out, Palin misquoted both Albright and her mocha cup, which reads: "There's a place in hell reserved for women who don't help other women."

At least for the moment, Albright had the last word. "Though I am flattered that Gov. Palin has chosen to cite me as a source of wisdom, what I said had nothing to do with politics," Albright told the Huffington Post.

"This is yet another example of McCain and Palin distorting the truth, and all the more reason to remember that this campaign is not about gender, it is about which candidate has an agenda that will improve the lives of all Americans, including women."

interesting i never heard that or seen it brought up during the race. doesn't really matter though race is over and we know she won't be on a ticket again.
