Default Keep an eye on Nintendo this year: Hints for the future

http://g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/70...This-Year.html

An interview with Nintendo Pesident Satoru Iwata held talks about the new successor to the DS handheld line (And that means a change like from the gameboy color to the GBA to the DS), which will likely have much better visuals and motion sensing (?).

You may remember that so far motion sensing has only existed on 2 games ever in the handheld line of games: A tilt sensing game on the gameboy involving Kirby, and a Warioware game on the GBA that involved rotation and spinning the handheld around to solve puzzles. How the next handheld will feature motion sensing is beyond me.

Also of note is the confirmation that a new Zelda title will be released this year on the Wii. For those of you who remember, Twilight Princess was originally developed to be a Gamecube title and not a Wii title. There have been rumors the last several years that the new title would use the Wii Motion Plus. While Twilight Princess was an excellent game on the Wii, it could have been far much more.

Oh, and it's possible that the game will be a sequel to Twilight Princess. Anyone else excited?

I was hoping he would mention more about Metroid Other M, but these are some exciting "announcements". (Of course they won't officially announce anything because Nintendo are such teasers)

Motion sensing on a handheld has me worried though... Kirby Tilt n' Tumble was rather shit while Warioware Twisted was really fun, so it can go either way. Deep down in my heart I hope that they revive the old Gameboy name for this new handheld but it probably won't happen and might just be something like a "DS Advance" or "Super DS".

As for the new Zelda, I'm very hopeful for it. Twilight Princess was amazing but it drew way too much straight from Ocarina of Time and didn't give much in the way of a revolutionary title. From all the rumors floating around about this new Zelda, they are saying it will be a completely new Zelda game that will completely change up the formula. Here's hoping the new Wii Zelda will be to Twilight Princess what Wind Waker was to OoT.

All that sounds good. The DS Lite was a great upgrade but IMHO I thought the DSi disappointing as the new features were really inferior in quality and backwards compatibility was lost. Further, the iPod Touch is gaining ground with great games at very cheap prices. e.g., Civ Rev on the touch is easily as good as the DS version and about a tenth of the price. And of course as a music player it completely buries the DSi. So it's time for something new and interesting. As a DS fan, I'm looking forward to it.

i would love to see a sequel to Twilight Princess but i'm guessing that may not happen. i lost interest in the DS since there really haven't been any decent games out for it. i still have my original DS. i'm not going to bother getting a DS light or DSI. i do wonder though if they'll ever announce a new Star Fox game for the Wii.

If you thought the Joker in Dark Knight was bad then apparently you have never seen this joker.

Whether it's a sequel to TP or not, a new Zelda game is always welcome. I'd rather it not be a motion-control game, but if it is, so be it.

Actually though I'd rather it be a different game and not a sequel. Twilight Princess was a pretty tired game with nothing overtly original...continuing off of that certainly doesn't open up a lot of doors. I'd like to see another cel-shaded Zelda game to make up for Wind Waker Link's image being ruined on the DS.

Wind Waker's image was ruined when the first screenshot was released. I still consider it one of the best in the series (though except for the DS titles, the CD-i games and by your argument Twilight Princess, there's never been a Zelda title that wasn't amazing).

Despite that, the Zelda games are visually perfect in whatever style they use, and it'd be interesting to see what they could do with the wii hardware on a new cel shaded adventure.

Minish Cap wasn't amazing either.
