With there being more money around, bigger budgets, and more people cutting throats to make movies, I'm not surprised that a lot of crap movies are made. Now in the case of the summer blockbusters, I don't know why you'd complain. Those movies aren't put together for you to get emotionally spun, they're there for explosions, sex and whatever else fills a mindless hour or two. Don't like it, then don't bother. Obviously more people bother because summer is the highest grossing for movie sales, that's why flashy/kitchy movies come out around now.
As for avatar, it was retarded anyway (no offence). The funny thing is that M. Night Shamalan is directing it. It's so left field for his movies. I guess he hasn't made a movie with a stupid twist ending in a year or so, so he might as well make the last air bender. gotta pay those bills.

i'll say once again it was not summer movies coming out it was the previews....transformers itself was awesome .........i am just saying some of these movies seem to come ot a full circle....for example though not the exact same.....Man on Fire and Taken.....Girl gets taken by a organization that specializes in kidnapping...and the main male character goes on a murdering rampage on anyone who was involved.....love movies having the same basic plot
as for book to movies i agree some of it is off the main plot....the only book to movie i have seen that was good was LOTR series...for a bunch of reasons
