Ive seen this exhibition before years ago..back in Dec '05...In Ontario, Canada (the only time Ive been there)
Ironically enough that was during school ..and I happened to miss the topic of 'locomotion' in biology class...so instead of reading in the book I got to see corpses....sweet..
It was under the name
"Body Worlds" and the bodies...as analog suggested were donated to science...
I found it to be amazing...
They had a couple pieces you were allowed to touch...it felt sorta waxy to me...
They had some that made you think...such as some which were children...some of fetuses....(made on think because these people died of natural circumstances)
Then they had interesting ones of people doing thinks like skate boarding...tennis....archery...walking even..
Some that in their own regard were...art
Some were just pieces or organs...one example being lungs of a normal person...one of a smoker...and one of a coal miner...last one: Wow...
And these 2 longitudinal cross-sections of people..one normal one obese...Hah!...that was interesting...
It was very educational ....
They had kids in there who were on a field trip from schools..or something
Do I think the guy who does these all day may have had a very interesting childhood?-Yes..but as for the actual act of doing this.....
I see no reason why not to do it if they donate their bodies.
Its quite nice..I even bought a poster and a couple postcards which I now have in my room..(post cards on door front and then first thing in front of the door entering the room is the poster)
Pictures from net:
Postcard one (but with different background)
Postcard two:
I dont know if I should post or not because Im not sure if its considered nudity if they have no skin on them at the time..>.>...
Basically its a man walking towards you with his skin held over one shoulder like a coat...
Think I can post it?
The poster
Also stuck on the inside of door is a handout with this pic
My advice: See it if you can and if you dont have a weak stomach and dont laugh every time you see someone naked (then again with no skin on does it make them more naked than usual?)
