I agree on the way parents are treating their kids to softly. The world is not a kind place. It is a harsh and cruel world, and as such we should be teaching our children just how hard it can get, not making them into gooey dumb lazy soft people with insufficient will power to face the world. This "kindness" on our children leads them to believe that they deserve more then they earn, that they are protected from reality and when life hits them a majority of them fight it tooth and nail. Some decide its not worth it and try to end their lives. We love our children but I say lay it on them hard and fast. Make them think on their feet, teach them to face challenges head on and to be optimistic and take risks!! Why are we trying to hide the real world from them? I understand, as a parent you want the absolute best for your child and to protect it from EVERYTHING, but all that is doing is hampering growth. Seriously, whats next after red ink? Paper, because it might cause cuts?? The whole thing is a enormous waste of time.
