My first reaction is that it's terrible what happened but then again I think about this for a bit and I think why would you let yourself get caught up with a person you don't even know? Especially, when this is the internet and anyone can be anyone they choose to be. It surprises me how seriously everything is taken when everyone says don't take things seriously it's the internet but yet they do.

It's hard to believe that there are people like this in society. I advise you all to not trust everyone you meet online and do not give out personal information. I know, I know. I went against that, but we had webcam convos for quite some time, so I could be sure it was who my husband claimed to be. Just be careful, and don't let people online control you life in such a degree.

I think if you were to get serous with someone on the internet at least do a webcam for awhile like you did but other than that there is no verification of knowing who that person says they are. Also, most people in the very beginning say who they really are when they don't know anyone and aren't familiar with the surroundings versus someone who has been registered to several different forums based on the same subject matter. I've noticed this but I don't know if it's true for every case.
