Cell phones banned?

Well I guess several states have already done this and a couple other places but, I just heard of it when my state(CO.) is passing a law to partially ban cell phones while driving. Only hand-less when over 18, younger none at all and no regular. So does anybody else have to deal with this? Do you think they should be doing this? I need some people to go to my blog ---> Here and vote on my poll and comment if possible for my class. Yes this was all a trap to get you to my school blog.

I loved you're yes answer... "All them heithen cell phones should be banned. " I spit tea all over my keyboard... anyway... No I don't think they should be banned... since most people that actually know how to drive correctly can easily drive and talk on the cell phone at the same time without crashing into oncoming traffic... -_-

your 'all of them heithen [heathen] cell phones should be banned' answer made me lol.

anyway.
i live in maryland, and my state has long since passed that bill, but it doesn't stop anyone from using it, because the law isn't really enforced. so, it must not be a big issue if even the cops don't care?

on a more personal level, i think that cell phones should only be partially banned. hands free devices gives you both hands on the wheel and more freedom of movement, which in turn gives you better access to necessary driving skills. :3

It's not quite as rediculous as you think. I was in a discussion about this on gaiaonline, a california girl that was pissed off about the law, saying that it was a much bigger distraction to eat and drink or to mess with the radio or ANYTHING else other that wasn't driving with a cell phone.

The thing is though, you never hear about accidents involving one man's dangerous reach for the Mr. Pibb, and how he almost slammed into a bus as he marveled at the beauty of his burger...

THE BEAUTY!!! *Crash*

Meanwhile, there's been studies about cell phone use while driving (This was also done on mythbusters) and it was shown that driving while talking on a cell phone was nearly as dangerous as driving drunk. But it will never compair to the dangers of a double with cheese.... *CRASH!!!!*

LMAO.
well I know here In the city I live in Canada it's not banned by law but alot of company's have banned employees from using them while driving in company cars. do I think I should be banned I'm not sure I know a lot of people think that using a bluetooth is the way to go but it's not so much having hands free as it is concentration on the road.

Cell phones are kind of a doubled edged sword but banning them while driving won't make sense. People do all kinds of crap when they're driving like putting on makeup, eating, etc. so it won't really make a difference.

But our Government in charge of education (AKA the Ministry of Education) has banned students from bringing camera phones to school because they make porn xD

(I still bring mine though ::D:)

They passed a similar law in ontario (canada) a few months back. hands free devices only now. I don't drive much, so it's not much of an effect to me. Though if I must say, trying to fiddle around with anything while you drive is distracting, and since people drive horribly enough as it is then I'm not all to sad to see something like this passed.
beware the double with cheese!!!

I support the cell phone bans... I mean it's just plain annoying. Cell phones are incredibly distracting to anyone doing anything, not just driving. Hands-free devices aren't AS bad but still it gives the same distraction, sans the hand holding the actual cell phone. But of course I may be biased since I just find cell phones a bit annoying in general, how people will whip them out at inopportune moments, or (this irritates me even more) just use them to text people, I mean sheesh it's a telephone, you could call someone and tell them in 30 seconds what it would take 10 minutes to type and send and receive. But I digress...

People really are bad enough drivers, especially here in America, where practically anyone can get a driver's permit and be legal on the road. Compare this to other countries that require a minimum amount of years experience and a raised driving age, we have pretty shitty drivers in the US. Cell phones make them ever worse. Plus, a lot of people look like total tools while doing it:

washington is the master of laws like this.
and there its a secondary offense i believe ^_^....
well i cant drive and i hardly talk on my phone anyway

I don't really think there is anything wrong with ppl talking on their cellphones while driving as long as they are using the hands free sets, my issue is partly the same as Koopa's, I hate when ppl spend 30min txt'ing me about a matter that could have been resolved completely in 5min if they had called me instead of pushing 300 buttons. Yes I can understand txt'ing when you are in a position where you can not make an actual call, such as at work where you might not be able to, but if you are at home or out and about and can call, why bother txt'ing to ask if I want to see a movie or some such nonsense, irritates the hell out of me b/c I don't have txt'ing on my phone, it's like $0.10-0.20 a txt incoming or outgoing. But in the end I think the problem isn't that we need to ban cell phones to all drivers, we need to get better drivers, b/c the problem isn't that these ppl can't drive while talking on their cellphones, it's that they can't drive at all.
