Fidel Castro Resigns

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23229795

So it's a few days late, oh well.

M opinion, I doubt much is going to change, really. It's Castro's brother, and this guy has been in charge for what... two years now? And there's a law saying that Cuba can't trade with the US while both of the Castro brothers are alive. It's something like that. xD I'm not quite sure what the details are, but it's something that will ensure that not much will change.

Thoughts? Opinions? Discuss.

@Gabe: I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you're trying to say...Maybe try rewording your post?

In the words of The Who "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss."

@leerock89:
//LONG LIVE COMMUNIST RULE//

Seriously? Communism sucks, in my opinion. It's not going to work forever. What bothers me the most is that no matter how hard you work, you still going to get paid as much as the person who has the same job as you. For example, I could be the "Star Worker" at my job, but I'm going to be making as much money as that slacker over there in the corner drinking coffee the whole day. Now that just doesn't seem fair to me.

For the sake of argument: the upside of communism that is properly run (granted, we haven't seen it since Vladimir Lenin died), is that corporations don't ship jobs overseas, operate sweat shops in foreign countries, or step on workers rights.

further, your argument doesn't take into account that communism doesn't guarantee a job, what I mean by that is that a communist country can fire people. so that lazy guy who drinks coffee all day gets fired from his job, and he has to pay for all the coffee that he stole.

And of course, capitalism has it's own set of problems

I'm not exactly happy with Capitalism, but I don't think anyone will be truly happy with their government. Okay, so maybe I'm getting the wrong image from my History teacher. She says Lenin was an evil guy, yet you say he was a good guy. So which was he?

Even though I don't like communism, I would take it over socialism, which Hillary Clinton wishes to bring us if she becomes president. Oh lord, somebody kidnap me and take me to a different country if she does.

Ahem. We're getting a bit off-topic here. It's my fault completely. I apologize.

No back to Castro...

It's good to see him resign, but like I said before the other Castro is the same. So I guess Cuba's not really gaining much. :/

To be finished with Lenin. take a look at what the Czars did before the communist revolution, then look at what he did for the common people. He may not be a saint, but he was a h*ll of a lot better than what they had before. And remember, if you live in a western country (North America, Western Europe, Australia, etc) then Communists are the bad guys from our golden age.

Looked at Obama? He's even more liberal than Clinton is.

anyway, It's true that nothing will change in Cuba for now. When both of the Castro's are gone it will be interesting to see what happens. I doubt the US will get involved again, not after the bay of pigs massacre, but you never know.

There's actually a law that the U.S. can't trade with Cuba while the Castro's are in office. That really hurts them, but we don't care. Also, we aren't allowed to go to Cuba. However, we still do. We Americans are so bad, flying to Mexico, and then flying to Cuba. I personally wouldn't want to go to Cuba as long as a Castro is in charge. Just look at what happened during the Cold War. We don't need anymore trouble from Cuba.

//Looked at Obama? He's even more Liberal that Clinton.//

Oh gosh. You don't understand what will happen if Clinton wins office. America will be doomed. Never will we be ready for her. Never.

And Obama? He's better than Hillary, I can tell you that. At least he knows what he's doing.

Personally, I have no idea who to vote for this year. Nor do my parents. In fact, I do believe I remember my Dad saying he wasn't going to vote at all this year. We liked Fred Thompson, but sadly, he dropped out of the race.

And Lenin wasnt the bad guy here, Stalin was. That mother fucker killed millions of his own people for his own purposes turning U.S.S.R. into the country that everyone hated. And it was one paraniod senater during the 50's that turned communism into the devil's idea.

At any rate I believe that communism combined with democracy would be one hell of an idea.

Cuba shouldnt change much, but I wonder if its economy is going to boom when the Castros' are dead.

Oh, I see. I had a little mix-up between the two. My bad. I'll pay better attention in class.

That actually doesn't sound half bad. In fact, that's a pretty good idea. Both governments would keep their pros, while getting rid of their cons. :]

Well yeah it's gonna sky rocket. The embargo on Cuba will most likely be taken away, so Cuba can trade with the U.S. again. The future beholds many great things for Cuba.
