You know, there's been plenty of threads about favorite artists or songs, but I had yet to see one that was specifically for albums, which I thought was a shame...so I made one.
I find it a real shame that buying full albums is falling out of popularity due to the rise of direct mp3 downloads (essentially a newer form of buying singles). What I find even more of a shame is how so many people don't bother with studio albums of already well-established bands, instead opting to buy compilations with such pretentious titles as "Greatest Hits" and such. However, compilations are certainly not useless, particularly for bands that have the tendency to spread out their only "good stuff" too much across too many studio albums.
So anyway, what's your favorite album? Doesn't matter what form you have it in...mp3s, CD, vinyl, cassette, whatever. Compilation, studio, live...again, whatever.
My favorite is, without any shadow of a doubt, Abbey Road. Now, if you don't know who that album is by, you don't know much about older rock, but hey, I'll tell you anyway. The Beatles, of course.

The Beatles were probably the only rock band ever that never had any real "low points." Sure, they had some times where they drifted somewhat close (early work, mostly, and Yellow Submarine soundtrack), but they never hit that point. Abbey Road, while not the last album released by them, was the last one that they recorded, and it's one hell of a swan song to be sure. There isn't a single track on it that is any less than great. The only song that even comes close to not being great is "I Want You (She's so Heavy)." And that last half of the album, with the medley...it's so amazing that I often find myself skipping straight to it and avoiding the longer numbers from the first half (but those are still amazing, too). Every member of the band was in top form, and both Ringo and George gave their best songwriting efforts ever on this album.
Boy, that was long-winded, wasn't it? Anyway, post your favorite albums.
