It's present day in Edo. (Japan.) A young girl by the name of Hitomi is a star in the girls track team. She's got a huge crush on the captain of the Male track team, Amano. Hitomi ALSO has Tarot cards. (cards that predict the future according to the many destinies that will fuse together.)
Her friend urges her to use the Tarot cards and find out if Captain Amano will like her. They say something horrible. "Seperation."
The next day, someone from the track team is overheard by Hitomi saying "Did you hear? Captain Amano is leaving to run for America's track team!" Now she knows why. She must try and ask Amano out for at least one date before he leaves. Gathering her courage she starts to stand up to find Amano himself. Speak of the devil. Well he asks her to meet him at the Track ... field? pfft i dont take track term diction sorry. Anyways.
She does.
And she says "here count the time with my necklace. It keeps the same distance at all times. It's magic." So she runs. The bet was made. If she gets under ten seconds, captain amano will grant her the first kiss of her life.
But then. A strange light appears like lightning in the track field.. thing...
A boy clad in armor appears with a sword drawn, confusion seeping from his face.
SHe tries to stop but can't and collides with the boy. Then he does all this ranting about how she shouldnt have collided blah blah blah. Explains that his name is Van and that he doesnt know wtf hes doing on this place. Then he says "oh wow. Am i on the mystic moon? I have to get to Gaea. Where is that dragon" and hitomi thinks hes being hysterical. (i mean who could be so naive as to think there are such things as dragons like this guy who just randomly appeared out of a pillar of light wearing armour and holding a sword o_O.. ke ke ke) So anyways a dragon appears. They run. Van catches up just before the dragon eats it. Kills it after a long fight. Then they leave. Hitomi is sucked intothe pillar of light as well. Then the necklace that amano had floats off and hitomi grabs it just before disapearing.
She wakes up to find her self on gaea. strange and alone. no wait. There is the boy. ANd... something in the woods...
(all of this is just the first epi. maybe the second though... hey i own the box set so i could uplaod it if you want but it'd take forever. ANyways. I couldn't find this anime ANYWHERE so... yeah. ifyou guys cant find it ill just upload and give you links. great anime thought. Unless you've seen the movie first. then it sucks. But you can watch the anime and then watch the movie and enjoy both. DONT READ THE MANGA AT ALL DUDE ITS HORRIBLE.
anyways a bit to spruce you on even more.
the "van" boy ends up being a prince of Fanelia who had to slay the dragon and take a gem from its dead body (which he grabbed just before they poofed into the light ya know) and prove himself worthy of being king. So he becomes king and right after the ceremony they are attacked by a mysterious invisible enemy. Balgus (sp? WTF WHO CARES) (his leading general) tells Van to run to escaflowne and escape with the sacred Moon Child girl (hitomi) of course , Van being all dutiful.. and retarded. gets Escaflowne (an amazingly powerful mecha made by the Yspano, a race of un-findable tech geniouses)and tries to fight the invisibles. It spells doom. But wait. Hitomis necklace points in a direction and thats where the invisible guys are. Bad stuff ya know.
the anime goes from about 5 kingdoms involving many small skirmishes and at the end a HUGE BATTLE for the guys (with great duels all inbetween.)
you meet the Knight Caeli, Alen SHezzar, who is the best swordsman alive.
YOu meet the bloodlusting Dirandu who is a young boy that is immensely powerful. a prodege of brutality i would say. (he laughs cool too xD)
You meet Princess Whatserface. A total biotch.
You meet the mole guy. A awesome dude who hitches rides.
You meet Alen's Crew (my favorite characters other than Folken)
YOu meet Folken, mastermind behind Zaibach the evil empire thats attacking fanelia and Asturia and well. everywhere. (also he is super awesome)
and then you meet MANY more awesome characters, see many more awesome fights, and so on
you also get taken through a journey of a confused girl trying to find love between a famous knight whos got the love of a princess and a King who doesnt seem to like her.
and behind it all
is a GREAT philosophical story about Destiny and Human Kind's Desire for war, poverty, and pain.
One of the only anime I've ever rated a 9. Check it out, if you're able to find it. If not, i'll upload them in a few weeks when my box set comes in.
