Meh, angry Republicans can rage on about how much he's going to screw up or continue spreading lies (you know who you are). But the fact is, Barack Obama is now the president of the United States. It's understandable to be somber, but there's absolutely no excuse that people should continue being whiny, poor sports about it.
After it was over and I listened to McCain's speech last night, it was truly moving, and I'll respect the man for the rest of my life. He stressed to his followers to do all they could in helping their president. Because as both campaigns have pushed to say, America is on the stage--and we can't be there divided. And thus, anyone who listened to McCain, and chooses to help their country, has my reverence to them equal to that I had given to McCain.
Yet still, during his speech, hateful, racist remarks were still being shouted out. Did you see McCain's face? He doesn't appreciate that. Staying true to pointless hostilities isn't just betraying your own president, but your own party and former presidential candidate as well.
Last night, Obama made a very good point. Previously, everyone was broadcasting about how "History was made". But America hasn't made its history yet, as he said. First, we need to prove that over this heated election, the American people can wind up on top. No one is going to care about the "first black president" if he doesn't end up being a good one. For that to be possible, he needs the support of the country.
So how about it? Let's make history.

I'm just going to sit and wait patiently. Can't do much now but see what moves he makes and how he goes about doing them. Hopefully the people choose right and America can once again hold it's head up high.

I think everyone is making speculations too quickly, as we still have over 2 months until the actual day of inauguration. Something could happen before then. Just saying. But yes, congrats to Barry and his win. But I don't see how everyone got behind his "change" notion, it's not like he's going to sit down in the oval office and wave his hand and suddenly America will transform into a glorious paradise and all our problems will be solved.
Also technically Bush is still our prez until January 20, oh snap.

Someone from work was actually depressed about it today. He said he couldn't sleep because Obama won and he was worried all the black people were going to riot or do something bad. I called him a racist and he said it wasn't because he was black but because Obama was a terrorists because of his last name. So I asked him how would he know that Obama is a terrorist, where did he get his information or facts from and how does he know that, that information is the truth? He started to stutter and said it's because he knew it was true cause he believed his sources and when I asked him what his sources was, he just replied with a mumble about something or someone and turned away saying he forgot something at the job site.

That was the dumbest thing I've heard all week.
Anyway, I'm satisfied with Obama's win. Socialism or not, his policies are more or less what the country needs at this point. And it's not like we've never used socialist policies before.
He really does have a natural charisma. He turned out more voters than we've seen in this country for a long time. In fact, he had more white votes than any other candidate since Lyndon Johnson, not to mention an overwhelming amount of young votes of all races.
Even if Obama doesn't turn out to be as perfect as many think he will, he was still important in raising the political awareness of this country.

Not being a resident of the US I was actually surprised when the news made front page of my country's newpaper. With Obama winning a few of the black ppl in my class were all "woohoo a black man is president! Martin Luther King's dream is here!" I just told em to shut the hell up and burn in hell. No matter who became president, I highly doubt that they'll do anything that'll affect my country directly because no one knows where it is! You can't even see us on a world map!
Therefore I personally thought that the people in my country were, as usual, talking with an empty head...

I am Democrat by heart and by family tradition, still im conservative when it comes to certain aspects of society and life. To me in my own opinion having a president like Obama is History already in the US History and a great challenge if not the greatest. There is a lot of racism and controversy already about having an African-American as the head of the country, im neither white or black but im very proud of Obama being our president :)

It was kinda funny. Before Obama won I was lethargic about the whole thing. In my head the white man was going to win cause the white man always won so there's really no reason to be interested. Then he got elected and for the first time ever something political made me happy. It took me a minute to realize it too, we now have a half black president. What in all thats good and holy in the white world did America do to itself? Is this for real? Did that guy just become the president of the US?? Yes, yes he did. NNNIIIICCCEEE!

win of the obama is good or not ?
i don't think this is a important point.
in my opinion, american citizens have not enoug interest about politics or worlds problems. think about this: have can change a idea whit a tv show ? but it can change, isn't it :)
because of my profession, i can easly say you, in philosophical points, american capitalist system is very similar to the old soviet socialist system. i can't explanin this very well in english. im a geinius only in my own launguage :D .
anyway, american political system is a upgraded copy of Ottomans land system. this means oboma, or clinton or names are not important.
the names explains international changing of usa, and the new strategys of usa's high politic makers and systems.
for exampla, if hilary wons, this meas offensive politics and maybe new "war" or "wars".
because in international reliatins high politic, a "woman" president or prayminister means "war". this is like a hidden language :) . and you can chaek what i say. i think very little number of yours are already interested or now, but you can read about englishs "iron layd" or indians "gundi" or pakistans "butto".
and if you want to understand "how american high politic systems works", i recommend to you tom clancys book :)
imagien a world of, full of metarialism and realism :)
with short words, won of the obama is not the point.
and be honest, is the problem obamas black skin, or his religion ?
in my opinion, i don't think about obamas belives. yes, the "WASP" are broken. but don't think obama as a Müslüman. no one Müslaman speaking about armenian problem as a genoside.

Alright, I have to admit your poor grammar has me at a loss here. But I'll pick some points.
First off, and overall, you need to stop acting like you're a mentor to a bunch of dumb cattle. Americans aren't all as fickle as the stereotype may suggest.
We don't care about politics? Record turnouts show otherwise.
The issue of Obama's religion has long been discarded. These were simple allegations sparked by enemies to make voters doubt.
And trust me, we don't need to read a Clancy book to understand how the politics of our "own country" works.

when did she say that and where did you get that from?
I heard it on a radio show (and it was clearly her), I'll see if I can't find it on the internet...
I did find it, apparently she was misquoting someone else:
"Now she said it, I didn't," Palin said of Albright. "She said, ‘There's a place in hell reserved for women who don't support other women.'"
As it turns out, Palin misquoted both Albright and her mocha cup, which reads: "There's a place in hell reserved for women who don't help other women."
At least for the moment, Albright had the last word. "Though I am flattered that Gov. Palin has chosen to cite me as a source of wisdom, what I said had nothing to do with politics," Albright told the Huffington Post.
"This is yet another example of McCain and Palin distorting the truth, and all the more reason to remember that this campaign is not about gender, it is about which candidate has an agenda that will improve the lives of all Americans, including women."

Not necessarily, she'll probably be going for the Republican nomination in 2012.

She'll try, and I do hope that she gets the nomination, a guaranteed four more years of Obama.

that i really doubt. when the honeymoon effect wears off people will see what he is and he won't stay true to what he promised everyone.

I think that that has already happened. She was what really killed the entire Mccain campaign.

"that i really doubt. when the honeymoon effect wears off people will see what he is and he won't stay true to what he promised everyone." That doesn't give the conception of some. The sickening thought is shared for those that voted against him because of ethnicity and slander. Really, it should be water under the bridge by now.

i don't think our new president could possibly make things worse than they already are. i mean, if some stupid iraqi thinks that he can throw a shoe at the US president and not get shot, then that means our US president screwed up big time some where along the line. I say we give Obama a chance, saying that he's a terrorist or that's stupid isn't gonna help the country at all. right now, our economy is in the sh*tter and he's the one who has to fix it so why not give him a hand? start by boycotting china....::D:

true but don't forget a lot of people voted for him pretty much for the same reasons as people who didn't vote for. the honeymoon effect is like that for all presidents who enter the office for the first time then it eventually wears off. we know from the past and current president that they don't keep all the promises they make. obama will soon be my new president and i will show him respect unlike those who will probably throw a shoe at him sometime down the line. it is under the bridge for me it just still bothers me how easily people voted for him because he'll be the "savior" of this country.
don't even say people don't think that. there are people out there who do think that.

lol...yeah i want to see how well he can handle this position at a young age. i hope he does prove me wrong. our economy will get worse before it gets better.
