I like a slick hip-hop beat here and there, and of course the offshoot "trip-hop" is great. Rap vocals aren't really my thing though, with the exception of a few rapcore bands, especially RATM.

So for the most part, I'm not a rap/hip-hop person, but I can at least appreciate things that are closely related to it.

I like hip hop/rap, but only when the song isn't just about sex or some kindof club they went to lastnight and ONLY if the lyrics make sense while possessing a deep meaning. I'm not disrespecting the genre at all. It's just that there are only a few rap artist out there that represent the full potential of hip hop. Such as: NAS, Kanye West, lil Wayne, Outcast, and Common. In the end, I still find myself leaning more towards Rock, Classic Rock, Electronica, and DnB.

I think that rap, hip-hop and RnB are for people that wanna be famous but have no talent whatsoever. It takes no vocal capability to rap and therefore it angers me when I see those pathetic people 'singing' about having sex, going to a club, etc. Who asked them that? I sure as hell didn't. Why do people know their name when there are actual people WITH vocal talent that lay undiscovered all over the world???

Wow, you guys sure like your music stereotypes.

I think it's pretty stupid to try to say that any one genre of music is defined by something. Rap and hip-hop are not defined by shitty gangster rap, and there is talent behind making good hip-hop, whether you people will admit it or not.

I think you guys listen to the radio or watch too much TV or something if you think all rap is booty-shakin-money-reaping-driveby shooting-pimp handin' bullshit.

Also, jyuukai, why did you even throw RnB in with rap and hip-hop? RnB is completely different, and if it wasn't for RnB, rock wouldn't exist. Or do you even know what RnB actually is?
