I never really liked Avril at all.
But i do respect those that do BUT

I will state my opinion.

I dislike avril.
Her VERY first album, was okay in my book.
But was she punk then?
No.
From the very start she was one of those pop acts, kinds like pop-rock, but even thats pushing it
I just dont like how she thinks, or acts at all.

Apparently nobody other than me on AF knows that a genre called "pop punk" exists.

From what I understand, she's not a "single-genre" act at all. You can call her modern rock sometimes, punk at other times, pop at others, or you can try to more accurately sum her up by combining them into subgenres, thus "pop punk."

The problem is that she's too generic to really be able to place all that well. She sounds sort of punkish, sort of popish, sort of post-grungish, etc.

I think this argument should just be summed up with "she sucks."

I actually like Avril. She was more punk when she started out, but once she got on the radio and became more well-known her image changed to pop. I still like her though.
