I was wondering on the internet and I found something strange about the preview of resident evil 5 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpIWhAAiNRc&feature=related

It seem that a white guy in army suit killing ZOMBIE in Africa is racist ... Why ? because zombie are black.

For me it made logic that the zombie are black because the story is in Africa .... Well in first tought I found that was stupid but it seem that some people agree with the fact that the game is racist because it show to the children that they must fear ,hate and kill the black people......

I found that a little bit push.. but I want to know what do you thought about that :o.o:

I don't mind it. The people that do have to get over it because it's just because the enemy has black skin. I remember an other game I had called Time Crisis:Crisis Zone. All the enemies in it were black, that is rasist. RE5 isn't because it has a reason to it. In RE0 Billy was in a similar area in one of his flashbacks and he was there to investigate something. Besides if I play a game where I'm a white guy killing other white guy, does that mean I hate white people, of course not.

I think it's pretty damn stupid to say it's racist. They're all African because...it's an African village. How hard is that for people to understand?

Nobody complained about every enemy in RE4 being Spanish (except for Krauser).

Seriously, what has this fucking world come to that we are worried about shit like this being racist. If that's the case then I guess the GTA games make me want to kill everyone, b/c I must be an equal opportunity genocidal maniac. I don't begrudge people a right to their own opinions, however horribly wrong they might be, but I reserve the right to smack the crap out of anyone who makes an issue out of something this trivial by labeling it as some sort of major world issue. In fact, if someone could supply me with a few addresses, I think I'll head over, beat up a few of these whiny christians and tell them it's because I thought they were all mindless zombies and that's what RE taught me to do. Makes me want to start drinking heavily again and kill everyone.

**All I'm saying is it's a load of crap, so they think RE promotes rascism, they probably think it promotes violence as well. Well who gives a fuck what they think, games also promote free enterprise, jobs, perseverance, economics, trade, liberation of enslaved or conquered ppl, the overthrow of corrupt governments, they promote problem solving, pattern recognition, decision making, personal character growth(moral and ethical, not lvl'ing), it promotes skills, education, and various other things that they don't want to acknowledge b/c it will hurt their skewed point of view and undermine their ability to attack a game or an industry based on what they perceive to be a moral issue. It's all bullshit, especially since a lot of these christian groups have youth organizations that have dedicated servers to play games such as Call of Duty and other similar games, claiming that the only reason these games are ok is b/c they represent a historical situation that can be learned from.

Perhaps people who think it's racist need to look into the history of zombies and why the African setting is quite appropriate.

Perhaps people who think it's racist need to look into the history of zombies and why the African setting is quite appropriate.

Why is that? Because the Caribbean people that started the zombie story tradition were of African descent? Or because Vodou (voodoo) originated in Africa? Even so, I'm pretty sure it was in Haiti that the whole "zombie creation" took place...at least at first.

Something along those lines. I remembered that from a zombie documentary on the History channel some time ago...

Even if they come from Haiti and not from Africa, the point is being racist on a game where you kill black zombies is stupid.

Yeah, it is. But hey, there's always going to be some ignorant loudmouth preaching discrimination when in reality, they only discriminate themselves. But, I digress.

Say what?!
Damm them, i'm going to write angry e-mails a them now!

Nah, just kidding, i played the game, me a Spaniard killing in game Spaniards, does that make me racist towards myself? No, just means that if people from Spain turn into zombies, i won't mind killing them.

Which brings me to another point, why is it that now if there isn't a person of every race in a movie/show/commercial everyone thinks that they're racist toward that race, maybe they just couldn't find good in that race for the job, there may be a lot of reasons why!
So for those who think someone's racist for every little detail/comment or other stuff they say about your, or any other race, please, get some sense of humor, sure if someone says "I hate(insert race)" or "i won't hire you because you're(insert race)"Yeah that's racist, so please try to learn the difference.

It doesn't even matter where zombie tales began. The truth is, if we have a realm where zombies exist, it's natural that zombies in Africa would likely be black.

We all know different variations of stories, but the common thing is. You're exposed to "something" or something happens to create a zombie, a mindless or more so a "hunger-centered" being that knows no pain and only wishes to consume the living, like some sort of titanic virus.

You get bitten by a zombie, you become a zombie. (Pretty common from many series)

With that in mind, guess what's going to happen?

Can you picture a huge mass of white zombies from say, the US, all go "Hey, let's go to Africa for this plot."

It's ridiculous. People need to lighten up, racism isn't as much of a problem as it used be.

...it's not racist because it's not suggesting that whites are superior. The zombies are African because they're in Africa and thus, the village is home to African people.

Chris is white because...he is. He came from America, he was white, so what? He's not killing them because they're African. He's killing them because they're goddamn zombies, just like you do in almost every single RE game. He doesn't kill un-infected civilians. That's not part of his job. He has to protect himself and probably others from the infected villagers and prevent the virus from spreading. It's the same simple concept as the other ones except that it happens to take place in Africa and thus the zombies just happen to be African.

Christ almighty. It's not that hard to comprehend.

I'm sorry but all I can read is gibberish. Your comment made no sense. I also hope by analyze you can make a coherant thought. What Sui said about hit it right on the nail. Plus this plays into a much bigger scope of the game. It wasn't like "Hey lets set Re 5 in Africa to shoot Africans!" There is a legitimate backing behind the choice.

Ok, I have to wonder, who are they claiming is racist? The people developing the game who were choosing a new locale for the story? Or are they intimating that the gamers who choose to play it are racist for killing African zombies? Either way it makes me want to scream at someone until I'm just yelling incoherently. And lelouch, do you even know what the hell you're saying when you start typing or do you make it up after you finish so that it will make sense to you?

He's in Africa because that's where the virus strain in this game is. They don't have a black main character because they're reusing an old character, Chris Redfield, who is extremely important to the overall story of the entire series. It's only natural that he'd be sent on this mission to obliterate whatever virus strain this is, considering his past work with S.T.A.R.S. and everything.

If you knew anything about the series, you'd know that there's no racism intended.

Okay so coming up with a new character is so hard. I would think they would rather come up with a new character then lose sales because people think they are racist.

Racism has nothing to do with it, it's just a convenient crutch for ppl who hate video games to base their argument upon. If it was a black character they'd probably complain that he's killing black ppl b/c it perpetuates the black on black violence, or if he was killing white ppl it would perpetuate the stereotype of all black ppl being thugs and gangbangers out to kill white folks. So regardless of who's killing who, they're liable to find a way to twist it into a negative statement that will support their crusade against any games other than brain age or dance dance revolution

Too bad almost nobody actually does think they're racist, just a couple idiotic individuals such as yourself.

The game is still going to sell very well, because of the extreme success of RE4 as well as the re-introduction of Chris Redfield for the fans of the older RE games.

It was a natural choice for them to use Chris again, both because he's important to the story and because he'll please fans of the older games.

Honestly, people need to get over themselves and stop trying so hard to view everything as "black and white" (in more than one meaning of the phrase). It's man vs. zombies, not white man vs. black men. Get over it.

Sigh...
So to all of you complaining of this being racist, answer me this, do you only complain when its against black/white?
How convenient that whenever its against another race, no one says anything, ISN'T IT?!
You people disgust me, just talking in convenience, and not only in this game, but in a lot of other games, series, etc.
So if it was in, i don't know, lets say México, France, or Russia, no one would be saying a thing, and probably be laughing at. So complain if it affects you, but if it affects some other person/race you support it, wth?
In short- Don't shoot unless you're ready to be shot at.
