Maybe someone can help me with this...
There were only two series of Record of Lodoss War, right? One where Parn was learning to be a hero and one where he was a hero already...right so far? Which one was the one where he was learning to be a hero. That is the one I loved...the other, yeah, not so much...

Hope someone can straighten this out for me...I have been out of anime for a while and decided to start watching again...

Ur thinking of the OVA which was just entitled Record of Lodoss War, the sequel to that which chronicles his further journey and the training of another young wannabe knight is called Record of Lodoss War: Chronicles of the Heroic Knight or Record of Lodoss War TV

Yep, as stated there were two Record of Lodoss War anime made. If you're rewatching though, you might as well throw in the Legend of Crystania movie and ova as well. They focus on Ashram & Pirotess from what I hear.
