This is somthing that has gotten pretty popular lately, even though Nintendo has been doing this sort of thing for a few years. That is, for a company to hold their own private event to showcase games, instead of waiting on a major event like CES and E3 to show their games. If we remember from E3 this year, Nintendo was sort of.... Lacking.

Yeah. It was interesting but it wasn't special or unique. Animal Crossing, Wario, but where's the meat?

Here's the meat, rumors of Nintendo launching a new Wii system with boosted hardware, a new ds model, and with several months since E3 they may show gamers some more of those hidden projects that you know they always have with them. Do you think Nintendo really is working on a redesigned DS? Will they bring the heat for this event? Or will we be reminded of their shallow event in E3? The event starts tommorrow so be sure to check your regular gaming sites, and be sure to make this your thread to discuss it.

Edit:

Okay, first off: Nintendo has announced a new DS model, "DSi"

It has a bigger screen, is slightly smaller, offers downloadable content for points, 2 camera's, and built in memory with an SD slot. However, it removes the Gameboy Advanced slot. It releases in Europe Spring 2009 with a later U.S. release (date unsure), and November 1st in Japan. Brain Age will be the first downloadable game to be used for the new ds.

There is going to be a new Punch Out! title for the Wii, as well as a sequel to the popular "Sin and Punishment" title, and now games will be able to be downloaded directly into the SD cards for the wii.

Thanks for the links. I can't say I'm a particular fan of Nintendo anymore, but it's good to be informed.

Day two of the Nintendo Autumn Conference, and this one is mainly about the Wii-Ware Channel. Basically they just announced a couple more games, but they also revealed the willingness to go away from the conventional, as one such game, Tetris, can be controlled with just the wii balance board (That's right, no controller).

Along with that are several puzzle games, and an attempt to re-capture the hardcore audience with game challenges. There's really not much more to say, just click the link and have a read.
