Codes are a blessing, to be honest. Personally, I try my best not to use them to get the full game experience. But some are blessedly put in for some of those more "impossible" parts.

Cheat Codes ~aka~ Stress Relievers

Hmmm...not all codes help with gameplay in fact some just unlock extras like cutscenes, customs, etc. They aren't necessarily a bad thing to use...many of them unlock features you wouldn't have been able to get even if you played by the rules. If it's been built into the game in order to help the user/buyer play to the full extent then I don't count it as cheating. It's not like your playing an MMORPG using bots and hacking into the game without the creator knowing. Ahh whatever....~RaMbLe DiEs~

I try to play the game first without cheats.

Then after I beat the game, I make no promises.

I don't really see what the problem is, it's each person's choice, I personally try not to use cheat codes, although guides are a different story, I will try to go through an area and only use the guide for the bestiary, and planning ahead for skills and char jobs depending on the game I'm playing, although as I near the end of an area, I do like to double check, make sure I didn't miss anything crucial, for instance, if I want the extended ending on a game, I'll double check before I leave an area to make sure I didn't miss an item or event that is only available at that time and without it, I'd be unable to get the ending I was aiming for, mostly b/c while I'm more than willing to play most games again, right after I finish a 100hr game, I don't want to start it over again immediately to get stuff I missed.

I tend to beat a game first without them. Then I go back and have fun with some cheatcodes.

It really is based on a person's choice, but other than that, not everyone has the same gaming ability. I might get stuck on a stage that you ran through in 5 seconds. Therefore, instead of getting upset and whipping my controller at the T.V. or you, I cheat and relieve myself of the burden. As it was said before, cheats are a blessing, and they in some cases, make the game more fun instead of spoiling it.

i think the best to do is first try to beat the game whitout using them and then you use the cheats only for fun that is my opinion

I'm the same way. My first time through a game I will not use cheat codes or even a guide book. Even if I can't finish the game with out them.

I usually try to get everything 100% before starting the cheating or just cheat but without going further into the game, sometimes it's a blast playing games with invincibility cheats (after beating them of course)
Or messing with the NPC's (allied and enemy) with stuff like invisibility and such ::D:

codes, cheats, walkthroughs are good on only two occasions:
if you are at an impossible part in the game
or if you have already beaten the game and just playing for fun.
