I was searching the internet and I found this article on some European web site, then I found it again on this site: http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/09/20/webkare-a-girls-only-combination-of-social-network-and-dating-game-from-japan/ What do you think about it?? First when I read it I thought "OMG, are they being serious??" It was something predictable to happen, yet I am very surprised that there is so many Japanese (and not only) girls interested in this kind of "service." To me, it is an appalling situation. Now, a question raises: what direction is this whole cyber-industry going?!

Okay, if when I want to waste time, I do one of three things. I either break things or figure out a new and better way to break things, fantasize about killing human beings and drinking pints of their own blood, or I just get online and be a total ass to people (some of you might know what I'm talking about).
Why in God's holy name would you want to have a relationship with someone online? And for that matter, why would you want to do it with someone that doesnt even exist?! Its stupid beyond words!

Well first, I'm agreeing with Russkie. This game is nothing more then a waste of time. =/

I think this is some kind of mistake to even think of creating such a sick portal :o.o: Think of how many silly girls will "fall in love" with those characters (or worse!), thinking it's the reality show... eh... poor mindless people :dizzy:

I'm starting to wonder if America should have nuked Japan like that... Clearly it has had some negative effects. The radiation does not only create mutations of the physical body, but it seems the mind as well...

This whole "virtual game" reminds me of watching anime and reading manga/books, however it might have way more drastic and dramatic effects on young girls' minds.

Something we agree on. Being serious for a moment; it could keep them in a fantasy world of theirs instead of going out into the real world and searching for that missing void most human-things tend to usualy look for.
That, and few other things.

My Response: Its Japan!! Not only will it most likely be a "fad" but will eventually fade. Time will tell. as for those poor girls, I hope they have a life too just like my cousin tells me about living in Japan. so nothing to really fuss, just hope it doesn't hurt anyone.

It certainly will. I bet there will be another fool who is going to adopt this idea into american culture and media. Maybe it's not going to be strictly the same thing but something based on the concept of "imaginary/virtual friend." I bet there is already someone who thinks how to make huge fortune on it. Some experts are already alarming it will have a tremendous impact on maturing teens.

this reminds me of some game my little cousin plays on totallyspies.com called "bot academy. it's all most like this. you make a "boyfriend" give him a name, dress him, feed him, basically you take care of him and his love will increase for you and so will his popularity. and i think that why make something like this? this person doesn't even exist! why say "oh i love _____ " or something like that? i find that very sad. if you want a boyfriend just A. FIND ONE! or B. if you are too young for a bf yet then just don't make one up! you'll have all the time in the world to do that! that is such a idiotic game.

You - the one who is "so" experiencing the hunger of a "communist country" especially living here in asylum, called USA. Btw, Keep it on the topic, russkie! grrr. xD Maybe you should just create a new thread regarding your passion towards communism.

While somewhat of an odd thought it's not that surprising, it's just an extension of a world's already perverse infatuation with the internet. It's just an animated version of watching some porn sites webcams aimed at younger people. And on the plus side, it might prevent those people too mentally deficient to see that it's a bad idea from procreating. Just think of it as an online Darwin Award program, removing idiots from the gene pool before they can go into prostitution and repeated pregnancy. Yes if they managed to maintain the separation between game and emotional attachment it could be viewed as just the next evolution of a popular game type. But I agree, this is going to end badly, probably with a large number of suicides and lawsuits.

I don't know, love-sim games are already pretty common in Japan, maybe it's a good thing to turn it into a social networking site...this way the people who originally just played the games on their own would have some form of contact with other people. It did say that users had to interact with each other.
I mean, I'd never do it and I don't see the point in it, but it can get those who are interested in that stuff to converse with real people (along with false ones, yes...but at least there is some form of some human interaction through it).

Only in Japan..
I like toki's response.
"Girls who want a boyfriend should find one, and live in reality, just like we all have done throughout history."
Same goes for guys..
