Star Trek VS. Star Wars

A very important debate to me.
So in a war between ST and SW who would win? I want real opinions or reasons why one would win in a fight over the other, as in a total war, any stupid posts will be deleted on sight. If you don't give a reason it is deleted. I want a real debate.

I belive ST would win in space battle because they can fire continuous beams of energy and thier shields are better.

I'll be one of the few people arguing ST probably.

Hmmmm...I barely watched ST so please bare with the unintentional bias. SW to me is the jacked up on drugs ST meaning one had a lvled battle ground with equal chances at survival while in the other(SW) anyone could over power thier oppenent. Honestly i think the people of ST would have an extreme disadvantage simply because cloaks on ships wouldn't work(Jedi's meditation ability to sense everything within range), the guns used can be canceled out, SW seems to have a higher understanding of force fields/shields, battle meditation from a jedi to help their troops in space as well as on the ground, and SW has a deeper connection with the universe that gives them power. In a way the people of ST already exist in the universe of SW and they are successful because of the those who control the force. IMO SW is too over powered to be pinned in a fight against ST and would swallow their foes whole.

If anyone can tell me the advantages ST has in a fight against SW by all means please share your knowledge with me....I'm too optimistic to regect it. ^.^

As soon as I saw this thread I rushed over with nerd-like speed. My vote goes to SW, personally. (I was never a fan of ST either, so bear with me).

I'm pretty sure the scale of fights are much larger in SW, so I think any ST group would simply get overwhelmed.Also, come on, the "Force". The force can do anything!

interesting question. Well I'd break it down to 2 scenarios. first scenario would be that one of either side managed to invade and have the actual people fighting each other. Say storm troopers rushed a ST space station or something. whoever you put into the situation, I think ST is going to get it's ass kicked. storm troopers alone would take care of that. heck, seasoned jedi would make short work of them.
scenario 2 is where the money isn't so easy to bet. A battle of ships in space. It's a rather good point that cloaking is out of the question. A good jedi would be able to shoot you in the darkness of space even without a star nearby to light you up. However, I think I'd have to agree that ST shields are likely stronger, and their weapons are on average stronger. Unless the enterprise is getting a dose of a fully armed and operational deathstar. Kaboom! thanks for coming out. All in all, sorry soul, but I think I'd lay my bet on star wars.

Well for the cloaking, what happens when there are no jedi around to use force? SW gets blown up without jedi. Plus I think ST has a lot more people than SW. Not to mention there are people in ST who have force like perceptions, not the abilities like meditation, but can sense others. And I wanted to avoid bringing this up but ST has the borg. Storm troopers would be desimated by the borg. Plus a jedi can only block so many phaser beams before becoming ash, being that phasers can fire a steady beam. You can only block a couple beams at a time.

Aww, come on! SW is way better than ST. SW has LIGHTSABERS!! lol. Yeah, I agree with almost all the other members here. SW has MASSIVE fleets of spaceships. Star Destroyers will annihilate the Enterprise (and all other variants of the ship). And they have the Death Star. Yes, its been blown up. But they can rebuild it! And Jedi! Nothing can pwn Jedi. Yoda himself will freakin Force Push any ship into each other. Then Darth Vader will force choke the crap out of you! So what if ST has better shield and cannons. SW with their massive fleets of Star Destroyers and other ships with over power ST defenses. So yeah, SW is better than ST.

Technically, ST was released way before SW so who can say that SW didn't improve on all the weaknesses ST had shown in it's series. Hard to say since SW never had an official series(said to come out in 2009 or 2010) that would allow us to compare the two. Soldiers fighting without a commander/Jedi Knight/Sith Master present nearby hasn't been seen yet...well atleast not by me. Continuous beam Eh? you might be right about that...not sure if you can compare that with the lightning attack a sith uses on a jedi. In the end people in SW seem to be skilled in combat(BoBa Fett) and aren't completely defenseless in a war without the help of the force.

@Atomsk: What are you smoking exactly? I admit the force is very nice okay. There are wepons in ST that can erase an entire race of beings with a single push of a button. There aren't that many MALLS in ST so your darth mall beats any ST has. About the storyline, SW has a very amazing storyline, but can you honestly say ST has no storyline. ST was coming up with some of the most original storylines before you were even born. Also how helpful ls an AT-AT versus a ship with lasers, or a nice anti-matter bomb?

@Stray: ST has a more massive force of starships. How many alien beings can you name in SW, cause with ST I can name probably double what you can, and each race has a huge amount of ships by themselves. Yet again ST has bigger ships, and more advanced weapons. Not even yoda would survive on a ship surrounded by Klingon bird of preys(type of ship).

@Loki: SW has a lot of people who can fight but ST has races breed and born fighting(Klingons) Not sure how helpfull lightning is when being shot at by phasers like 50 feet away.
Maybe you should try to avoid space battles people cause that is the main aspect of ST.

ya the space battle is the key issue I'd say. star trek doesn't have much going for them on the ground...save the expendable characters whose names you never remember. phasers could still be blocked by a lightsaber, regardless of the continuous beam. SW has far better favour in a battle of characters, but a battle of ships would be where the interest comes in.

Yes in a brawl of main charcters SW would win. What I was getting at with the continuous beam is if three people are firing at once at a jedi from different directions he can't block all three. If he unblocks one it kills him, it's not like it would just bounce off like what happens in SW.

Ok Ok I have to admitt ST has some amazing space crafts with numerous designs fit for different situations. In a war many things come into play...armor, weapons, numbers, alliances, formity, strategic orders, and so on. The special effects,stunts,etc. used in ST and SW are set on different scales.

~Numbers~ ST(low) and SW(high) meaning one has been tested to it's full extent and potential(maybe not). That being said i can't really disrespect ST without seeing what they could do if given the same TLC. Until then...SW will have the most numbers(clone wars) that can even overwelm a jedi/sith.

~Armor~ The armor used in SW seems to be cloth(force users) and heavy armor(troops)....ST from what i've seen they mostly use cloth even the subordinates,but the armor on the ships is ranked higher than both worlds.

~Weapons~ When it comes to weapons....well lets just say ST troops better have a death grip on their guns.

~Formity/Strategic Orders~ Without the force or better yet some godly influence on their side the possiblities of survival are medium if not low.

Now i'm not holding these as facts nor am I a loyal fan to either ST/SW. I'm not going to put down your defense by exagerating truths,but like i stated earlier ST/SW or on different scales of performance due to low budget or just terrible ideas....of course it's possible one was focused more on the plot than on explosiveness.

@Loki: True you never see that many ST characters in one place quite like in the clone wars movie. I just said there where a lot of races, but I never said much number wise. Yes armor would be a problam so SW is better frotified for it's people, not sure if that i'll do much agaist a phaser. For weapons for troops ST has very little while SW has a plethora of different weapons. But for strategic orders ST has the upperhand considering all of ST would work together with little problems, SW on the other hand may have some problems when it comes to teaming up.

good point, ST seems much more organized. Though with SW I'm not sure I'd say they have way more weapons. ST weapons may be fewer in comparrison, but I think overall they have more punch. They're more in favour of quality than quantity. But the deathstar is the top of the line weapon in all this, so...

I say Star Wars because it just has that special something that keeps me wanting more. I'm big on character development so that may be one of the reasons why. Star Trek never really kept my interest and I found it really boring compared to Star Wars.

Why not? I gave you a reason and a debatable reason at that. If you wanted it to be just about the weapons/armor, you should have specified just what to debate. I gave you my reason why I think Star Wars is better.

This is a very tuff subject...because on one hand you had luke and the force the jedi are notorious for their skill on the battle field but as for a space wars their no use. Which is where star trek come in and even then you have to decide which would be the better caption (jane, Jean-Luc Picard, Avery Brooks, james kirk,etc) to battle with in space....but once again Star trek isn't know for its hand to hand combat...so im gonna have to call it a draw due to unforseen forces

I liked the old star trek, when i was about 7, with spock and all the crap graphics. As i got older star trek got worse and i dont like the films.
But starwars is just awesome, even though number one and number 2 arent as good as the others they are still better than most other films.

My contribution to this discussion is my opinion, and you can take it or leave it. But if you're going to be a stick in the mud and demand some sort of text wall as a "valid contribution," then okay, let's go.

I prefer Star Wars for many reasons, the first being that I hardly even watch TV at all anyway, so Star Trek sort of "slips under my radar," so to speak. Another big reason is that Star Wars, unlike Star Trek, isn't some gigantically long overall story that requires too much of my time and attention. Yet another reason is acting ability. Don't even try to say that anyone in Star Trek ever acted as well as Harrison Ford did in the original Star Wars trilogy...and besides, Harrison Ford's a dreamboat anyway. Oh, the things I'd do to that Corellian freighter pilot. Star Wars succeeds on pretty much all the levels that Star Trek doesn't. And besides, I don't see Star Trek providing for kickass video games the way Star Wars does.

Did I mention Harrison Ford is hot?

I think that would put the fight in a new perspective if they fought in the star wars world of the star trek world. Just like in football and other sports, the home field helps allot for your mind, and the feeling of you're world being attacked makes people fight a little harder.

Well if star wars and star trek ever fought, first off the Borg would wipe out anything star wars threw at it. Second of species 8472(?) would wipe out the Borg and everything else including anything star wars. Finally the Omega bomb would wipe out both universes. The end.

Edit: And if star wars came into the picture the entire universe would die due to the uber damaging effects of FTL travel, which was revealed in season 2(I think) of STNG.

Star Trek I'd say. Their ships are just plain better for both offensive and defensive. Though Star Wars does have the force, so they might figure out a way to do some damage. Close battle, but I say Star Trek FTW.
That's just between the main guys though, if any other race came into play there would be a different story.
And of course the Daleks from the Dr.Who universe could appear somehow and win. (I <3 Daleks) ^_^
And about the death star.. that was destroyed due to some stupid design flaw, I don't think it would do much in the battle.

Well it looks like one of the staff don't like you, and I have a pretty good idea who it is to. Sad really, cause physically removing the post completely actually causes damage to the site(yes thats right it does, DF explained it to me once) and normally they are just "soft removed" and an explanation is given as to why. So whichever staff that is doing it, when you read this, please stop. Why damage something your working for??

Wow. Thats to bad.
But to be honest, i can count those post on my left hand. So I'm guessing it has to be some super-spam post (which the one in this thread wasn't.). And since I'm not a mod i cant argue with what you guys choose to delete.

So if a mod have a problem with me, please be a man and send a PM to me explaining why. So i have a chance to defend or to at least know why.

But it could also be a glitch in the code. That would suck even more for DF and the ones that are coding.
