ok i downloaded the "latest version" but then when i click sign in it wants to update.(reason one why i hate microsoft) so i click update. it cant access the file. (see)

this pisses me off. it keeps trying to use ie to access the download, firefox is my default browser. i uninstalled ie long ago. the best i can do is google talk. and some third party clients.

I don't understand what you mean.- You downloaded Windows Live Messenger but it's opening up IE to access the folder? If you downloaded it, it'll be in the folder you allocated, un-zip it, and install.
