So just some idle news I heard while driving home from work. It seems that s young woman is selling her virginity to pay for college. Well the story goes as such; There are two sisters that are trying to go to college. They want to become marriage and relationship counselors, and try to make it big. The younger sister had studied her butt off to graduate from high school sooner and joined your older sister in college. They both received their associates degree and were trying to go for their bachelors. Their step dad had gone through all the steps of getting them a student loan, but instead of giving to the girls he took off with the money which was 50k. He has a warrant out for his arrest.
So the sisters decided that they wouldn't let this stop them and figured that they were going to get the money no matter what. The youngest one is still a virgin so they decided to sell it. And boy was it a good idea. They got the help of Howard Stern to raise the bid, a gig on Montel and I believe Oprah. The current bid is 250k.
What does everyone think of this? Was this a smart choice for the sisters? Should they have tried to go another route?
Ironically around the same time an 18yr old boy tried to sell his own virginity on eBay and got the bid up to around 40k before they stopped it because the state he was in didn't allow for sexual sell.

First what kind of idiot would pay her for her virginty when there are hookers? She is just an expensive girl who wants money. Also there has to be a better way. Why would a couple go to a marriage counselor who sold their virginity, anybody against premaretal sex won't. Plus who wants to be known as the girl who sold her virginity to get money and go to college. They should really think of a better plan. Oh, and how did they get the idea to sell her virginty in the first place?

I was albe to hear the pros and cons about it. I mean first off shes a virgin which is a HUGE plus. I know sssoooo many guys who want that myself included. A hooker is going to be loose with a possibility of a STD. It's like driving a new car, you get to be the first one to put mileage on it. Of course she's going to choose which guy gets it, since it is hers and she does want it to be special.... and think of all the coverage shes getting, Stern, Montel, even Oprah. It won't matter what she did in the future shes going to be famous for a very long time.

This isn't the first time actually. I remember someone wanted to sell their wife as well.
Personally, if you're at the point where you need to sell yourself over the internet for money, then you have proven that humanity can't be saved. Not only will people sell themselves, but there are people willing to pay for it. In this we can assume people would pay for anything and sell anything, given the need for money. And besides, these girls only sold themselves to get into college. Is it gonna be worth it?

Wouldn't Oprah be against this, I don't know much about her, but wouldn't she convince her not to.
Well I guess I shouldn't judge the girl it's her body, but I hope she relizes she's still a hooker no matter what the reason. I hope the fame and the possibility of college has not dilluted her mind into thinking it's anything else.

Well I'm sure Oprah and Montel would tell them that they would pay for their school for them. But that fact that it got to that point would be an incredible boost for their future. I mean think about it, before this they were unknowns. No one knew of them or heard of them. Now they are going to be on some really exposed shows and get coverage.

And for what? Sure, the "world" will know of their existance, but for how long? Their names wont go down in history like Peter the Great, Napoleon Bonaparte, King Louis XVI of France, ect.
How is selling your body for money any way to achieve glory in this life?

It's a way to meet a goal. You have no idea how many woman actually do this. Sure it may be immoral and unethical, but hell if it works, so what? If I could sell my virginity for even 10k I would do it. Why? For ****s sake its 10k. Your telling me you would turn that down?

Regardless, selling yourself for sex.. well.. makes you a whore. If you're fine with being a whore, go for it.

Prostution is not legal most of the countries in Europe.
And I have a questio, they are getting attention by the media won't they got enough money if they go to the tv and selling the story to the newspapers?
And what I think of it? As a girl I completely disagree with this stupid idea. (But if I were a guy I still think that they should find an other way, cheap money is the worst...)

Someone can be born with an STD, for example HIV, if the parent is infected. Point being, virgin or not the risks are still there.
I, for one, will never pay for sex.

I agree w/ Lee on this, most of you are being unfairly negative about this. You claim it's a bad idea, and call her a whore or a slut, but she's just trying to make it through school, she's not the first person to do that by a long shot. And what about the women who prostitute themselves for a living b/c they have no other job skills and it's the only way they can survive? What about the ones that have been forced into lives like that? Does that mean their lives must carry those negative connotations as well? Frankly, if she wants to do this, which I doubt it's actually going to happen, simply b/c as someone else already pointed out, Montel and Oprah will probably cover her and her sister's tuition now, chances are the auction will go through, the money will either go to charity or cover the other costs involved in college, books, food, housing, computer, and they'll follow her and the winning bidder around on a date, let them go off into a room, then after a few hours or the night, they'll come out and say they got along great and so decided to wait, but are dating now, then in a few weeks when the media doesn't care anymore, they can stop pretending they are dating. Because let's face it, it's sad that this is a length they feel they need to go to for higher education. But what's really sad is the number of jackasses and idiots lining up to pay to sleep with a virgin girl.
And good luck selling urself Lee, if you make enough, you should donate a little extra to AF so we can give away a prize of some sort.

Okey this is the only solution for them. But for me it's unacceptable, if it were the only thing what I could have do I wouldn't, as my teacher said " The objects got price, man has got dignity". I wouldn't bear it mentally. This my opinion maybe others can do it but I'm not.

You're right, some people have been forced into doing it, but I also think it's an easy way out for people who have talked themselves into believe that they really can't do anything else.
If you're willing to sell yourself for sex, then you should be willing to carry the burden that comes along with the words "whore" and "prostitute". And if you're fine with that, then good for you. If you take offense, you most likely shouldn't be doing it.

thats pretty interesting remark, considering that she is technically not a hooker, however it does concern me that people would go to such lengths to make enough money to get to college.. could we say that its the colleges or schools' intuitions, classes, supplies and such...etc. are getting to expensive.. i myself find it hard, without my finacial aid, i cannot afford school.. though am sure they could have found a better way to go about it.. or could the virgin girl only be thinking of her 15 minutes of fame.. thats the real question here.

Hmm I think this is an incredibly efficient and profitable way to make that much money. I mean that's waaay much more than the average hooker would make from just one "job". 250k is well worth it, I say. People say there are some things money can't buy but I strongly disagree with that. Everyone, no matter who it is, or immaterial they claim to be, has a price. In fact this is almost unfair. I want to make that much money doing something as easy as sleeping with some random bloke.

Although am neutral, because i am neither for or against it..koopa does make a point and rather... if i had a chance to make that much money.. well who knows.. i have never been in that situation. .. the only thing i would worry about if i was that girl is if that person has something.. Well of course the guy would be tested and she would be the one choosing the person, cause the virginity is hers so she gets to make the choice on who its going to be.

I heard this today and all I had to say at the moment was, pfft.
It's apparently legal where they are (just heard so, but there are a few of your states where gals can sell their glory), so it's not so much a legal matter in this case. However, point number 1: They want to become marriage and relationship counselors!!! who's going to go get relationship advice from a girl who sells sex? point blank, she's about as smart as a college girl if she can't piece together that an action like this can be damaging to that little dream career of hers.
Second, you needed 50K to go to school and now you have 250K, what are you going to spend it on? hmm, do you think it'll be entirely invested into their education? speculation, I grant you, but I'm interested to see if they can stick to their, ahem, principles.
Thirdly, this seems like a typical case of fifteen minutes of fame. they sell off a cherry buster and then that's that. nobody gives a crap later on. There was a guy in my city a year or so back who went on facebook or something and tried to raise like 10K so that his best friend (a hot chick) would take his virginity. the end of that story goes, he raised not quite enough, was publicly laughed at, and nobody knows if he got laid or not. There was even a guy in Australia who sold everything he owned, including his job and an introduction to his friends on ebay a handful of months back. your whole life up for sale. guess what? he made close to about the same amount as this girls untouched vaG. it's sex. it's a lukewarm hole that you put your d*ck into. if you try you can get some for free, and maybe, just maybe she won't bleed all over you when it happens.
Lastly, the stigma. yes she will be seen as a 'whore' if you will. She will be recognized on campus as the girl who gave it up for tuition money. She likely won't be able to escape it. she'll have to move around in order to make something of that career she's put into jeopardy, and why? because she doesn't want to wait a semester and get a job...that's some smooth western thinking right there. sell your p(l)ssy, get some money.

Hey, I like sex very much, but seriously no girl's fun zone is worth that much cash. sometimes you just need a clear perspective on what's for sale. it's a vagina....there's about 3.5 billion of them in the world....can I have the one that costs 250 thousand dollars? oh, it just belongs to a random college girl....can I have the college girl that's just giving it away with two of her friends instead?
edit: ok, having been through some of the articles on this girl and her "decision" I have to conclude that ya, she seems to be a bit of a flake and a soon to be whore.
"We live in a capitalist society ... why shouldn't I be allowed to capitalise on my virginity? . . .I understand some people will condemn me ... but I think this is empowering. I'm using what I have to better myself."
"The main purpose is to finance a couple things in my life"
"The online auction site eBay turned her down so the auction will take place at a Nevada brothel, the Moonlite Bunny Ranch, where her sister is working to pay off her college debts."
"I don't think auctioning my virginity will solve all my problems, but it will create some financial stability. I'm ready for the controversy, I know it will come along. I'm ready to do this."
starved for attention and money. you know what to do.
suddenly she doesn't seem so wholesome anymore.
The best case scenario I can see coming from this is that some bidder she doesn't choose because he's not the top notch lay she's looking for sues her for discrimination, takes her money and donates it to a WORTHY cause.

Hmm... I feel that doing something like this is pure stupidity. To have such a low respect for your own body (and for yourself) that you would sell yourself like some common whore is just plain pathetic. Then again, that is America, is it not? You are allowed to do almost anything, and what's worse is that no matter what you are selling, someone will buy it.
One word: Capitalism.
Still, if someone would wish to become no better than a streetwalker, then I say, let them. More power to them. But you won't catch me doing it.

On some of this I agree with you, but the part about some of us being unfairly negative, are really not. The majority of people, (just to clue you in, I am also including non-christians) think that selling yourself for money is a bad and immoral thing to do. So we aren't being unfairly negative, we are simply showing what we, and most of the world, thinks is wrong.
On a side note, the people who prostitute themselves for a living do that because they did not apply themselves in school, most likely did drugs, hung around the wrong kind of people, and eventually dropped out of school only to find that prostitution was the only job they thought they could do.

Some women have no choice in the matter. Some times life leaves them with no support, no job, no nothing but more mouths to feed other then her own and she knows of no faster way of actually making money then selling her body to stay alive and keep her children alive. Other times they get sucked into it. A pimp works his magic without his bitch knowing what hes doing until its to late and then shes in so deep she can't leave without losing a limb or life. Granted this isn't the case with the woman in question but these situations do exist, its just that we don't see it or we choose to ignore it.
