Our interenet and the people on it are slowly becoming more dull so to speak. Leet speak is taking over the use of their brains ore declining. I mean when the most popular thing to talk about ranges from your name to your day and even then neither is actually discussed we are declining altogether. I know there are a few people out there that still use their head but why do most people choose not to? I mean is it that hard to actually think for yourself or to actually discuss something based on your own opinions not on others? Not to mention the disregard for grammar and spelling...
Am I the only one who sees forum/internet behavior slowly declining is their intellect?

XD nice one shigami.....her is the thing...we can all be seriouse and discus the ending of the world but we choose not to why?...well may be because we want to escape our daily routine and forget for a second our problems ....and sometimes you will find us actually discussing something useful or seriouse ...at least i have a few times ....but mainly we are here to enjoy our selves and possibly help others have fun too ^^....but that does not mean...we are declining ...and you have to keep in mind not aall the people here speak english as their native language

i agree people arent very good at the interwebs nowdays, just look at what happend to urban dictionary and youtube. i'm not quite 1337 but i know what your talking about
hmhm BlueSano is right. I post in forums to meet new people and have fun, because I need to talk about serious things all day at school! Then its nice to have a weird, non-serious thread.

Hey, I noticed the internet was rude, crude, dumb, smart, beautiful, ugly, intelligent, retarded, and oh, so wonderful the first time I went online. I knew it was for me!!!

B/c it is easier to ask a couple questions than to get into a heated discussion/conversation about some grand topic that there probably will not be a conclusion to the topic

I feel the same way.
It's difficult to find a community, brought together for any reason, that is not made up mostly of people who could care less how they type and if their conversation is meaningless or not.
I think it's not the intellect so much as the mentality. If they're having fun with their incorrect usage of the English language, why should they bother to listen to constructive criticism? Their teachers are only bringing them down, yo.
As for those whose first language is something other than English, it's easier to relate to them as they jumble their sentences. However, they would learn how to speak/type/read English better and more rapidly if they were surrounded by people who actually cared what they posted rather than some numbers and chatspeak.
Of course, it doesn't really matter what anyone thinks about this matter because there are always going to be people who would rather type words with as few letters as possible as they discuss potatoes and other random and pointless things. And, honestly, if I were like that, I wouldn't want people telling me to change.

Gah I'd rather not leave any comments on this matter. I have enough trouble attempting to keep this place reasonably sane as it is.

Heh, Koopa I want to hear your opinion on this subject so if you don't want to say something here then maybe a pm is in order?

Sure it gets annoying that when you are reading that you find grammar or spelling errors but sometimes it is not on purpose because people think faster than they can type and so forget to type a letter. It happens to me a lot so i spend extra time editing my responses because my computer's keyboard sucks and I think some keys are sticking but otherwise people are different and not everyone is going to have perfect english skills no matter where you are from or what language is natural for you. No one is perfect but hey we are all human and normal at some level. lol.

Yes, I did notice this, but I thought that this was due to the declining IQ of humanity as a whole. I suppose that I should not judge our species based solely on the internet, as it seems that the great majority of them do not use the Internet. Hey, I know! I will use politics as a good basis for that assumption!
/me goes and watches the new for approximately 10 seconds.

read BlueSano's response.
most people see forums and the like as recreation. The internet is much like a video game only with real characters. It's easy to interact, it's easy to throw ideas out, it's easy to do as you please. People come to get away from the dumbasses who try to correct them throughout the day, who impose rules and regulations and grammar upon them. I mean, granted it's not a place for chaos, but it is a place with no serious consequences. A place that should be treated as something of the everyday only a little more loose. We're not writing term papers or rough drafts for teacher to proofread and tell us to write again. we're laying down what's on our minds and if we make a msitkae then what's the damage. a handful of grammatical errors, though you may notice them, aren't going to turn the entire sentence into confusion. They're not going to downplay what the person has to say. Granted it's dumb to start up your leet speak and expect everyone to follow you. or to type a series of abbreviations and expect everyone to have the patience of a saint. People make error, that's pretty much fact number one about people. we shouldn't have to expect perfection in the real world, and now we have to abide by perfection in a fantasy land? The english speakers and the non are all prone to mishaps and mind slips, and if we're all too slow to keep up, then I guess that's our fault. we can just try not to let it happen again.
