He follows Raito, the holder of his second Death Note, and only can be seen and heard by Raito; he is non-existent to anyone who has not touched the Death Note. He finds humans and their problems endlessly amusing and will do, literally, anything you ask for a juicy Earth apple. He often forgets to mention to Raito important loopholes about the Death Note and the connection between a reaper and the holder of the Death Note, but, he gets there in the end, mostly with a little help from Remu, Misa's female reaper.

Remu will often correct Ryuuku, another reaper, with her extensive knowledge of the reaper laws and cool nature. Despite the fact that she is the one who explains that the only way a reaper can be killed is by loving a human, Remu, in a sense, loves Misa, and ends up sacrificing her life for the girls safety and happiness.
