Have you ever been plagued by a disease, or been in a situation in which you or someone you know and or love has been in? Have they lived through it? If so what was it? (If it's not too personal.)
I myself was plagued by Luekemia when I was only 2 and 1/2 and lived to tell about it.

Does starting the bubonic plague count?

Depends were you in with the rats that brought it over??

If I am correct, the plague started with parasites who gave it to the rats.

This is very true but in turn the rats brought the disease ridden parasites on their backs.

And I brought the infected-rat-parasites to the Asian Minor!

you're wrong the plague was in the rats blood, parasites sucked the rats blood then moved onto a human, sucked their blood and transferring the plague to them.
i've never really been in a life threatening situation, except when i was born my umbilical cord was wrapped round my neck but everyone has some kind of problem at birth. There are a lot of people in my family who have nearly died by some sort of disease or accident.

Rats have no urinary bladder, so whenever liquid passed through their body, they immediately urinated. The parasites passed the plague to the rats, and the rats passed it to the humans with their feces being all over the place.
The ships back in those days were not known for its cleanlyness.

The virus is in the rats blood stream. the rats are naturally immune to the virus so they don't die when they have it. now if a blood sucking parasite were to suck the blood out of one of the infected rats the parasite would then be able to infect the next thing that it sucks blood from. The rats are the carriers for the plague and the parasites are the one's that transfer the virus to humans

Well.. either way they brought it with them and infected a huge part of the population.. killing them off.
I have heard of that happening before.. I'm glad to see you are alright..
I have had other occurances of cancer related diseases in my family.. my uncle died not too long ago from brain cancer.

WRONG: Rats are not automaticly immune to a virus. They are a living organism just like humans are, they are just as vulnerable to such a disease as we are.

Well, I was abducted in the mall as a child by a South American man and woman...I suppose that "could" have been life threatening if they weren't stopped before they left the area.

actually reading into it some rats had adapted to the bacteria that caused the plague so they didn't die form it but some rats from a different part of the world would be killed by it if they caught it. we really should stop going on about this

That's aweful.. but at least you are alright. Will those injuries be with you for the rest of your life?? I know the two holes where my broviack(sp?) went in and out will always be there.

Hm . . . I cracked my head when I was 7 . . . >_>;
also my grandma had cancer :/
I got beat up by gang members when I was 6. I thought I was gonna die until a girl showed up and protected me. (Embarrasing)

Oh wow.. these incidents are aweful.. I can't even fathom how things like this could happen.. but you all seem to be alright. I've never had problems with bullies but that could be because of where I live. My mom was actually born with a hole in her heart and had to have open heart surgery for it..

I've only been told of it from my parents. I was too young to remember it, so likely too young to really resist with anything other than crying...just like a normal little kid.

A long time ago i was playing with my friend in the woods and eventually wondered into a construction site. Just running around and then some guy starts yelling "Stop right there!"...we turned around and saw a man with a shot gun. At first I thought of running away but my friend was so scared he couldn't move..the man said to us "Come here...your on my property...where do you live?". I grabbed my friend and started to back away but the man raised his shot gun pointing it at us so I stopped. It was either me or my friend that told him where we lived...not really sure. My memory of it is so hazy i dont remember the walk to his truck but i do remember him giving us long ass lecture about trespassing. After driving over dirt piles we finally made it to the road. Some time went by then he dropped us off at our neighborhood sign and said something else but i just kept walking.

O.o That is soo scary!!! You mean he actually dropped you back off at home and everything? I would have been thinking 'I'm dead'.. and he would have killed you two. *shivers* now that is a story not many people can tell.

Just some days ago, when i was on vacation.
I went fishing with my uncle, and the boat's engine suddently stopped at a location where beach werent visible by naked human eye.So..one of us had to swim back to the shore, and since i like that kind of situation i had to be that one..Almost drowned myself since the sea at that point was more than 10m deep and the waves were pretty big.

I was born a month early and had coughing fits which left me in an incubator for a couple of weeks after my birth.
Then at some point while I was in high school I was out swimming at a beach, when I got hit by a huge wave. I don't know if any of you have ever been caught in a wave, but it's rather disconcerting, and you're not quite what direction is which way. I finally managed to get back to the surface of the water, and then the second wave hit. After getting rolled around on the ocean floor again, I found the direction of the shore, and struggled to make it there. Just barely did before the third wave hit. I wouldn't have had the strenght to come back up if I had gotten caught in that one as well. If I remember correctly, I slept for 3 hours after that oreal.

i found out last month the reason my mom treats my older bro different from everyone else was cuz he has like a bad heart. and its like his heart is kinda big, a little. and i been tellin him he could get a surgery and he was like he has been thinking of it, but that person could have a bad heart and all sorts of stuff that makes sense. i just wish the best for him.

leukemia is a type of cancer. it stops the maturation of leukocytes made in the red bone marrow. instead of having a bunch of different types of white blood cells, you typically end up with a bunch of unmatured cells that cannot properly do their jobs. of course, there are different types of leukemia which all act in slightly different ways.
also, sorry to hear you suffered from such a debilitating disease as a child, inulove, and i'm very glad you lived!
as for your brother having an enlarged heart (at least that is what it sounds like based on your description)...I had a friend and classmate in jr. high who had one. he went about his day pretty normally although he couldn't exert himself too much. i don't know how bad your brother's problem is, but there are people who can live generally normal lives with this. As far as the heart being bad, they do tests to make sure the heart will work as well as possible in the new body. of course, there is always the possibility of the body rejecting the organ, but modern medical science has improved a lot as far as organ transplants are concerned. Scientists are always trying to make the process less difficult on the patient and with lower chances of failure - especially in something as important as the heart.

Um.. I don't ever recall having any life-threatening situations, whether it was in my family or some other case. Except.. I had a Grandma who died, but I don't know the cause, so I'm better off not explaining.

Since I hate to get into these sort of things, I'll just put it this way. Yes, one of my loved ones has been in a life threatening situation, and barely lived through it, and I had many thoughts of suicide during this time. Dun call me emo.

Thanks for the concern.. I really don;t even remember any of it.. the only thing my parents continue to tell me is that I was smiling and with my green blanket in every picture.
Mine was differnt.. Acute.. something or other I don't even remember the name but would if I saw it. But my red and white blood cells were fighting with each other making the disease spread and such.
I also used to have a bit of a helicopter fetish.. lol everytime it would take off or land I could hear it and have to be there watching it.. oh the sight.. me mom and whomever else with my iv pole sprinting down the halls to watch it xD

my grandma and grandpa and aunt all had cancer, but luckily they all are in recession. My great grandpa had leukemia but he died from it about 5 years ago.
the only life threatening situation i was in was when i was three and i had double lung pnemuia (idk if i spelled that right?) and the doctors thought i was faking it until the dumbasses actually checked and figured out that i did hve it.

Cancer is such an annoyance.. I'm glad most of them survived though. You must have had it tough.. I have never heard of that before but I'm sure it wasn't fun. I have heard of my share of doctors being dumb.. they were with my uncle.. or at least I think they were.. now it's a cousin of mine.. some back problem the disks or something.. everyone thinks he is faking it.. he has had surgery on it once or twice.. but now they want to gve him steroids to make the pain go away for a bit.. thus worsening the problem.. what a nuscense.
