vampires can go into the sunlight, thats just something made up. there was a movie made in the 20's, called nosferatu (or however you spell it) and at the end, so the director wouldnt get sued for copying bram stokers book, he had the vampire die in sunlight. but dracula has no problem in sunlight. after that movie people who were pretending to be vampires would always say the sun hurts them. oh by the way, i vote for werewolves. they have much more strenght and agility. also, are we just talking were"wolves" or all types of those were montser things? cuz wolves arent the only ones.

actually, most werewolves learn to control their transformations, so they can transform anytime. same goes for if they are born a werewolf (mother and/or father were werewolves, and passed it on to their children)

Let's remember here children and older children that these two creatures vary with culture. In my culture a "Vampire" or so you guys call it. Is an old village woman who by night sheds her skin and turns to a great ball of fire and sucks the blood out of men and cows. A "werewolf" is a tortured spirit that ONLY LURKS AT NIGHT as a tortured man carrying a coffin on his head with giant candles by the edges and on full moons turns into a terrible wolf beast. (nothing about walking in daylight is mentioned) if i had to choose between these two fel creatures i would chose the werewolf. (who wants to be a skinless flaming old hag? :P)
even in traditional mythology i would choose the werewolf as their scenes are fined tuned and they are rather power even next to vampires.

I've always like both. Vampires seem like a a darker mystery to me, but Werewolves, and the moon, are very interesting. I've seen alot of different versions, so it's hard to just pick just one. But I agree, i think both groups, have their own versions of sacrifices, that were made, or given, to get the powers, or abilities they recieve as "monsters"; but their curse is what they make of it, and i think that's true of humans too. not in all cases. it really depends on wat werewolf media you are veiwing. most movies restrict werewolf transformation to only in the full moon, but most of the time they can transform without it, they are just stronger with the moon.

*clears thought* Actually not all races of vampire are effected adversely by the sun. In fact some breeds of vampire awaken at noon and return to sleep at midnight. I have done quite a bit of recherche into vampire lore so if there is anything you wish to know, you have but to ask...

Wrong, as I have said before many vampires don't feed on humans, and many of the ones that do don't actually need to. Not to mention the overly popular belief that vamps can't go out in the light, whilst many can not most can. another thing not all vamps live for ever or transform into bats (altho many do transform into some type of animal, usually a cat or wolf).

i think what most vampire supporters are failing to realize is that even though some vampires may be sexy and tasty looking, they are in essence less human than werewolves because they lose all humanity when they are turned whereas werewolves, who in the classic belief only turn during the full moon keep their humanity completely except during their 13 hours every few weeks that they loose control.

however to be fair, i will also look at the more modern interpretations of vampires and werewolves

so if we take what i gather and understand from this thread so far, it can be said that:
vampires can walk in daylight
they can sometimes keep their humanity
they are not always immortal
they don't necessarily need to feed, they can go into a sort of hibernation

as for werewolves
they can sometimes turn at will
they are practically made for killing vampires

of course i admit i may have failed to mention points supporting either side that did not come to mind but all in all i have to say my vote goes toward the werewolf because when it comes down to it, i would rather be a human who loses control maybe once or twice a month and has the rest of the time in between to try to do good than a soulless beast who can either kill people or stay asleep forever

Well, it really depends on which kind of lore you're talking about when discussing vamps and weres. When it comes to brute strength and such weres are more often considered the stronger kind, while vamps have mental powers, atleast considering most lores.

It's control versus lack of control. Both are essentially animals though one contains most of the physical appearance.

Personally I can't stand the thought of that you're actually eating someone, as in guts, flesh and the whole thing, so I consider the bloodletting the lesser evil, ironically enough.

In some books it was said that I a person embraced the terrible pain of the change when first bitten they would have total control over the change, meaning they could change when ever. They could also change a part of their body without changing completely, such as an arm and leave the rest of themselves normal. They also had regeneration powers. The only way to kill these types was to actually eat their heart. The only problem being that the pain of the first change was so excrutiating that most end of fighting it and never realize their true potential.

so unless you get your blood constantly filtered.

Well, both species are great and they would both be more boring if they just existed alone. Their eternal war is thrilling and makes it all the better!

I chose werewolves all the way. Werewolves scare the heck out of me more than a vampire. Vampires have so many weakness. As long as you have a Cruxifix, Holy Water, garlic, and a wooden stake, you are safe. But a werewolf don't really have weakness other than silver.

both are great but i lean a little more twords vampires. not twilight sparkle in the sun vampires but old school bloodbath vampires.

They both make crappy movies if Van Helsing or Dracula aren't involved, but for the sake of an answer it's vampires. Know why?

Because a proper vampire burns in the sun and a proper werewolf can only change under moonlight, all the vampire has to do is live until morning (preferably under an umbrella), see who the wolfy is, then look him up in the phone book and slaughter him in about a week.
