on the first day back of school, i get slapped with 6 pages of homework! then 10 pages after that! and for the past 3 nights, i've had to stay up all the way to 12 to finish my homework. i don't think i can keep going like this forever. i can probably hold on for about 6 more months but then i'll be near my limit. i usually have homework from all of my classes, and start on them as soon as I get home, but it still isn't enough time. what should ido?

I'm going back to school in 5 days, and I'm going to be a freshman in highschool. You just made me feel very uneasy just now.

quit. or do a really half assed job. tell them you refuse to take your work home with you for life quality reasons. stress is a real killer.

Get your parents to sign a note saying that you get too much homework or something like you can't get it done in that amount of time. I had that in my middle school, but it never happened to me. I'm just throwing that out there so it may not help.

I know how you feel. I'm in the duel-enrollment program with Ohio State, so I get to take a few classes there, as well as my high school classes. I'm in all AP classes, so double the work and difficulty level. I Have Marching Band, so that knocks off about 3 hours that I COULD be working. I'm up till about 3 AM every night with homework during the school year. I get about 2 hours of sleep because I ahve to wake up at 5 AM to be ready in time for my first class at 7 AM. School's a b!tch. All I can say is limit your time online, try and take advantage of every extra minute given to you in class to do work instead of talking, even work during lunch if you want; just be sure you still eat. What I used to do was, in my really easy classes that I didn't have to pay quite as much attention, I'd do my homework in some of those classes. That always helped out.

Why do you have to wake up so early?? How long it takes you to get to school? Is your school that far?
Well, when I was in high school... I don't think my classes started so early ... this is insane. I think they used to start at 7:30. The bus would pick me up at 7:00.... But I would wake up just 15 minutes before it came.... or 30 minutes.
Then I got my own car and I would leave my house after 7:00... and almost never made it on time ^_^
Now, I don't take any classes that start before 9:00... just because I can't wake up so early :P Good, that I have the "power" to manipulate w/ my schedule, hehe
Hmmm....gunbound15
I think, ariya made a good point. Try to use your time wisely. I think using your time when you have a study hall, lunch or you're just sitting in the classroom being bored... is the best time to catch up on some work.
What I used to do.... I would do my homework while I was still in a classroom. There is always a little bit time left before class ends. And if not, is there any chance you could talk to your teachers before it's not too late ?? Honestly, I was never doing all of the work. Some if the assignments were simply pointless. But I encourage you to do as much as you can.
Try to do things in order. Start with the most important stuff. Homework that can't wait must be done first. Or the things that takes more time than others. I would try to do the simplest things as fast as I can - not to waste too much time - and focus more on the "harder" tasks.
Sometimes, you need to do things in "sessions." For example if something requires more thinking... and reflexion... like writing an essay... Then start with a simple draft. Collect all of your thoughts and ideas, those don't have to be in order. Meanwhile, you may do other things, like play some sports or do other homeworks. Then after a couple of hours of break, come back with a clear mind and try to put your thoughts together in order. Erase, add and modify your sentences. Sometimes, it may take a couple of days. That's why it's good to organize your time and plan doing things earlier rather than at the last minute.

Hell no dont ****EN quit or do a half ass job. For one you dont need to be on this sight if you have that kind of work. Second is there some time in school in which you can work on your homework. Such as lunch time or time in which you have finished doing your class work. 3rdly go to a place in which you are not distracted such as a library. Last Resort, if those classes are too much for you then drop one and take them one class at a time
jump onto moving train-will save lot of trouble..no1 told life is a cake, get used to it or there will be more trouble than just few extra homeworks and i mean it! dont be easy on study it will cost u a fortune if u just quit ir, if u even want to hear my opinion there her it is: study as hard as u can and after ur done not sure how oln u will be then but it will pay off for sure, i bet u dont wanna live ur life as a bum or parasite whos sucking up on famly o friends who havnt leaved u yet....
happened with one friend of mine..he did suicide in the end...so ****ing study man!!!!

Most schools are made of brick so that won't really work.
I always did a half ass job on homework and nobody seemed to really notice/care. Half the time I never did it at all. Made all A's and B's too.

The whole thing just sucks don't it? I never had it that rough when I was in high school. Hell, I heard that the SAT score has gone up so it harder to pass. SAT was so easy for me I didn't even study and I got 1342 on it. One thing I do want to say is the system sucks, and only because its a free service. Once you start paying for school(college) it get WAY better, and the only way to get into college is to do a decent job in high school. Now, depending on the state your in, you can take a test that will basically prove you are smart enough to get out of high school and start college. That's the best way out if your not a genius. The other way is just to drop out, 1 in 4 on average in America have dropped out of high school already so a few more ain't going to make much difference. The problem with that is we're going to have idiots running the government in the future cause all the smart one will be killed off or they will do the smart thing and leave. Eh I don't care much about it any more, I just hope I die young...or maybe kill off everyone else but me and a select few to repopulate the world...

K, here's some tips.
1. you can pull down some sleep at school. the majority of your learning is from your homework. the teacher's job is to lay down an explaination, but you text book can do that for you. If you've got a sh*t teacher, read the book and power nap that class.
2. the first few weeks back to school are the toughest. mostly because you've been lagging through the summer, so they want to try and whip you back into shape. don't worry, you've just had down time so you're brain's a little mushy. you'll be back up to speed soon so don't let it get you down at the moment.
3. time! there's ample time to be had and to be used to your advantage. if you ride the bus, do a little work on the bus. If you pulled down somebody's pants in the caf and now have detention, then you've got some guaranteed time to do work. If you've caught up on your sleep and are in a sh*t class, do some homework for another class while you bide time. homework needs to be pummeled. you just need to do what's required to get by.
4. if you understand what you're doing then you don't have anything to worry about. testing and projects are where your grade comes from. having spotless homework counts for dick all.

Teachers at my school check every single answer. When they pass back the homework you can see the wrong answer marks..

Don't worry for the most part teachers are easy on the freshman and you normally get like a week to get used to things...so try and relax...XD
PS- I like your quote....XD Awsome show too...

i'm pretty sure having nothing to do except watching anime is a good thing. anyways, thanks for all the tips yall. i doubt my middle finger will be able to move for a while after all the writing but at least there's some hope for me. ohhh by the way....the french and their language suck.....badly. it's the same as spanish but just a lot harder....they can go shove those escargoes down or up somewhere for all i care. i probably won't be online for a while, everyone pray that when i get back on, i'm not brain dead, or crazy.

Use your time wisely. It's also best to get as much sleep as possible. And if you're struggling with your homework, get some friends to help you, or a teacher. For me, whenever I went to a teacher, it meant that I would have a hard time and my teachers would lay off for a day or two.
But hey, you've gotta get more than your own brain to help if it's not working out, seriously.

find time at lunch, during class when you have time, or after school. if you can't find time, make time.
Most schools are made of brick so that won't really work.

O_o....really??? hmmmmm interesting, i assume you did good on your tests then? at my school, if we did half ass job on our homework, we would have gotten a C already. or in my case, in my english class an F.

I have a feeling that because you're even posting on AF, you must have some sort of free time. Do you think that it's possible you're procrastinating on your studies? Thus lagging you when the deadlines near?
If not, perhaps you're studying "too much". You should paraphrase your notes and look at essentials. You should talk to your teachers about what you do and don't need. If any of your teachers are doing their job right, they'll help you if your workload appears unbearable for one reason or another.
If all else fails, perhaps you can try dropping one of those subjects that aren't totally necessary and pick up a study hall instead. (I could have done the same for Etymology, and I'm sort of wishing I did).
I apologize if I'm making incorrect assumptions, but I'm only acting upon the information given.

Easiest thing to do:
Stop whining, and do it. That way you don't have to complain about it. If it's too much, do it in class or during lunch. All of high school I almost never took home homework because I could do an hours work in 20 minutes.

good point Quiet but unfortunately everyone is different here or anywhere, especially schools. My advice as a professional; take it easy and take 5 to 15 minute breaks every half hour to hour of work and pay attention in class to the teacher and lesson in full, take notes in any manner possible: hand written, typed down on your laptop, or recorded on a media device for voice recordings and do this when ever you get the chance. when taking partial notes make sure they give simplified detail that make you remember what the teacher or teaching was about. In no time flat eventually you will get high scores above C+s'. Good Luck!! ^^
