Hi all,
I was just wondering if anyone likes the idea of having a Japanese language area in the forum? I'm sure there are some people here who speak Japanese at either native or fluently, or pretty good at least.

What do people think about the possibility of having an area where we can all use, learn or discuss Japanese, or maybe even just talk and/or ask about Japan in general.

Just a question, what're your thoughts, guys?

Maybe if the Japan section is made, you won't be saying that soon. ::D:

Meh...that would be interesting, but most of us speak english. So only a few people would be part of that forum. Idk it seems like a bad idea.. o.o

And besides which, even the location of this is PHAIL!

You wanted Site Feedback. But it doesn't matter, because almost everyone on the site is literate in English, but hardly anyone in Japanese.

It could be fun, in my opinion.

I can beg to differ with you with a lot of users on that point, quietchat.

But check out these threads for Japanese language stuff, and I might make a sub forum for this... maybe... I'll need to think about it.

maybe a forum called "other languages" or "not english" and have sub forums of what most of the users use like Japanese: 日本語, Korean: 한국어 users who cant see the words japanese or korean would have a hard time however there is software you can download which lets you type these words

I am in current ownership of a Japanese/English dictioney and have 2 lessons in Japanese under my belt... I would love to learn the language.. but it's kind of hard now that I've lost touch with the guy that was teaching it to me.... which really sucks... A sections for Japanese would be lovely.... especially if there were some patient people around who would love to teach others how to do it....

Hey Koopa, how about this...

Make a sub-forum somewhere for people to make topics and hold discussion in their native language. I believe that's what sparky was trying to say.

Maybe someone could make a language forum and have subforum areas for the different languages?... or something like that....

I can teach some Japanese. Depends on what you want to know. I can teach pronunciation and conversational Japanese. I could even pull off teaching Katakana and Hiragana if anyone is willing to learn. I may only be sixteen but I know the written language(minus Kanji) like I grew up with it. Not to brag, I just can write in it fluently, so if anyone interested I am happy to help. ^-^

So that you can learn, silly. I'd be happy to teach. I might be able to give everyone a lesson on the forum once a week or maybe once every two weeks. Depends on how many people I take on and how fast they learn. I don't know how much conversational I'll teach, perhaps we could start with words and Hiragana. Depends on what the student wants to learn. Like I said, I am willing. I hope I can help. If you're interested, please make a formal request with the people in charge of the site and if everything goes as planned, everyone who is interested in learning can pm me and ask questions and make requests on what they want to learn. ^-^

If I ever wanted to learn Japanese, I would go for an actual Japanese teacher and not for a couple of minors.

Okay. ^-^ Then go to a Japanese Teacher if you'd like. I'm simply wanting to help. It's your choice whether to be a student under me or not. I will not take it personally. Just promise me one thing... DO YOUR BEST! Japanese is hard if you're not persistent with it. It took me a few months to learn how to say my r's correctly with a Japanese tongue. I hope you all do well. ^-^
Later!

That'd be fun. I'm not fluent in Japanese yet, but it'd be good practice in writing and reading. Plus, it's not just to speak in Japanese, but to discuss Japan (place, culture, language) as well. I think sparkrose's idea would be the best, though. This way, other languages can be included as well. I don't see how an entire forum could be used for one language. Then again, I'm new to forums in general...

Yeah, I am some what too. I just hope I can help. I don't know any other language besides English and Japanese. Which brings a question to mind... if we do include other cultures besides Japanese, will those languages be taught as well? I'd be willing to learn if they would be.

You all seem to be missing the idea.

Koopa and I have been talking about this. What we both had in mind was that we would have a section in the forums for you to have discussions in other languages. Not teach. We have a thread started by our dear a2ng0d who is "teaching" Japanese, and some other languages.

I didn't mean to close it. I was closing all dead topics because people were bringing them up to increase post count, and not contributing to the topic. :/

You all don't get it.

This section is for discussions in a foreign language. Not teaching. If you want to learn Japanese, talk to a2ng0d or myself. We can teach you.

I repeat. The section will be for discussions in a different language. Not to teach a language.
