I dislike sirens

Especially tornado sirens. I mean, not that the tornadoes themselves aren't about 100 times scarier.

Every month in the "tornado season" they test the tornado sirens where I live. They're loud as they shriek through the city. But honestly, they really, really scare me. I hate the noise. It makes me anxious and nervous.

In 2006, Israel was being attacked with rockets from various neighboring countries. At the time, I was very close to someone that lived there, and so I did a lot of research about it. The sirens sound really similar to the ones we have here for tornadoes, and I would cringe every time they went off.

Now see, fire alarms aren't as bad. I realize they're not as loud because they are in a smaller area, but the frequency of the noise doesn't make me as nervous, for some reason.

Does anyone share my irrational fear? Also, do you have sirens in your area, and if so, what are they for? Any discussion relevant to the topic of sirens is allowed.

ya, tornado sirens are tested first monday of the month here. but the siren i hate the most the the ice cream truck siren. so annoying.

oh man, there's an ice cream truck that drives around my neighbourhood all fn day cuz there's a park across the street. rrrrrrr, I've been trying to plot his demise for so long.

I don't think we have tornadoes often, so I've never really heard one around the neighborhood. Of course, you can hear police, ambulance, or fire truck sirens going off every 5 days, more or less.

I don't have any sirens around me, but I get so annoyed when we have a fire drill at school because when you have to walk by the alarm I go partially deaf, it is so annoying, I get it needs to be loud, but they are so loud 3 per floor is enough to wake the dead we don't need like 1 every 50 feet.

I love tornado sirens and the air raid sirens that we have go off ever Saturday at 12. Ill stop what im doing on Sat sometimes just to listen to the sirens. With being on the fire department, I have emergency lights and sirens on my car and when Im out in public especially at night and you see all the youngens hanging in places there not suppose to be in, I like to flip the sirens on just to scare the little shits away.

Talk about resurrecting an old thread. I live directly south of an old army base and they have this really loud klaxon type siren that goes off about twice a year. Very entertaining, I keep on thinking theres going to be an air raid or something.

Here we have a siren that goes off at noon for lunch hour. That siren goes off again at 10 pm to let everyone that there shouldn't be anyone wondering around the place. it's sort of like curfew if you will. This siren also goes of during the summer for tornado warnings or severe thunderstorm warnings.

No tornado here so... no such siren... but fire truck siren are sooo irritating ¬¬ the wasn't so bad before but it look like they change for a worst one.... and sometime it's firetruck,cop,ambulance, all at the same time it's making me crazy !!

I likie the sound of sirens, i don't know why, well excpt for fire alarms, those just annoy me
