A new moon is hardly seen,
It’s light no longer showing.
No light appearing in the midnight scene,
For the moon is not a-glowing.
A crescent moon is like a scythe,
Held sturdily by a warrior amongst the stars.
He holds it firmly as if a knife,
And stands much closer than far Mars.
Half a moon is like a smile,
Happy to give the sun’s reflection.
Though half a moon remains a short while,
It holds God’s deep affection.
The full moon is the most beautiful of all,
Gliding through the sky as in a Royal Ball.
