Currently America is in the lead with 20 medals in the olympics, but China who is second has more gold medals, So do you think it is more important to have the most gold medals, or just medals in general?
I personaly think the country with the most gold medals should be first instead of most overall medals.

I think being the country with the most gold medals is better;
A country could win third in every event giving them more medals than anyone else, but if they have no gold, then they haven't really beaten everyone.

i think that each medal should be a certain amount of points, bronze 1, silver 2, gold 3. so if you have one gold, someone would need 3 bronze to equal it

i like trips idea, but having more gold is better. it would give the country more bragging rights. you cant brag when u have a bronze or a silver cuz another country could top that, whichever won the gold.

I think that if a country has more gold medals they should be in first place, because if you have the most gold medals that means you've had the best performance overall.

I think that having the most medals in general means that your country has performed decently in most of the events. Big deal if you have the most gold medals, it doesn't mean anything if the other country has 17 silver medals to your 5 gold.

yeah i agree with klard...gold medals just show how good the person is in the event he/she did ,but having different medals shows how good ur country is

having the most gold means you can brag to OTHER countries and people, but having having the most medals overall means that you can be proud of yourself and your country since that usually means your country is the most athletic one of all.
but obviously, i'd prefer it if we got more gold medals and more medals overall than china.
china deserves to be slapped senseless in these games. and i hope they do.

i think gold more but you have to also give credit to the other medals as well. do like a point system where gold's worth 5, silver's 2 or 3, and bronze is 1. wow that sounds lame. :(
