I was amazed that atheists are offended by the content in Spore. I thought that religious zealots would be the first to object.

So, what's your opinion? Are their concerns legit? Or are they just being a pain in Will Wright's rump?

eh I don't get what there is to be offended about. Spore is after all, a "god game", where the player plays the role of the planet's "god". People get offended over the stupidest things. I'm not offended, I'll still play it.

I will still play this game as well. After all, it's just a game. Will Wright is not trying to make a political statement.

A lot of people are so stupid. It's a game, that's it. There is one game I have, La Pucelle : Tactics. When it got transferred to America, it was reedited due to having religious parts. They got rid of everything that even looked like a cross and in one part, a character that smokes took a puff out of nothing because they got rid of the cigarettes. The main character's appearance design was also altered greatly from what I know. Stop it with the dam religious crap already.

Censorship in America is ridiculous these days. Everyone is so worried about accidentally offending someone that they don't realize one crucial thing. It's a game. It's not real and never will be. Getting all uppity and offended doesn't do anything but punish gamers. Besides, no one makes those people play those videogames.

If they're so offended by the content of this game, then why don't they just not play it instead of griping to the media?

Because they are too narrow minded and have nothing better to do.

Indeed. Their stupidity is shown by complaining about a form of entertainment. That's like people objecting to nudity on television, if you don't want to see someone in the nude, then don't watch that program.

There's a fine line between legitimate concerns and stupidity.

Exectly. I think I now know why censorship is not as bad in Japan. I'm freaken 14 and I watch things that are "religious" and "offencive" and none of it bothers me. I don't really know how to explain but I bet most of you felt the same way one time or an other. On an other note, the age limits are also like what we are talking about for like what I was saying about before with the watching and such. America needs to lighten up and the people have too stop acting so stuborn. The drinking and some others age limitation I'm fine with so don't go monkey on me.

I think people in my country these days don't realize that at a certain point you have to use your common sense and teach your kids what they can and can't watch. It's not the government's job to babysit your kids. Hell, it's not my job to babysit their kids. They need to bone up on their parenting skills if they think the TV studios are at fault if their kid is 5 and watching porn.

5 year old watching porn. Well, that's a new one. Wait, no that happened before. Anyway what I'm trying to say was that there are way too many restictons for those that are well, younger than 18. Heck even some 18 year old people don't fully "free"(can't think of any other better words). I have to stop before I lose myself here and so off topic.

I never thought that atheist would be offended by a game where you play a "god" like role. I never saw any fuss about Black and White when you actually play a god.

I don't see what the big deal is, it's just a goddamn game.

I don't even get why these people get offended in the first place.

It's just a game. I don't think that there should be a reason for atheists to be offended.
