Simple request: Categories, genre filtering

Hi,


I'd like to know if it would be possible to view anime based on their genre. For example, I want to watch funny anime (like Azumanga Daioh), ecchi/harem (Aa! Megami Sama, Love Hina, etc) anime, romance, horror and so on. I don't want to watch mecha ones (except Neon Genesis Evangelion, for some reason I don't mind that).


Soo, is there a way it would be posisble to filter out ones I don't want to watch, or just to view ones that fall under a category? It would be possible to put them into more than genre (since some anime aren't that simple to categorize).

It's possible, and we were thinking about it, but it will take a lot of work. We'll have to manually sort through over 450 categories. It's a strong possibility, though.

yes, i think it would help a lot, but it would be long and difficult with all of the anime we have here. maybe with the new server... just an idea...

I think it is a great idea. I would gladly help with sorting if the admins and staff wanted to sort animes based on genre.

It'd be hard to number a lot of different anime, for example Eureka 7 has:
1. Giant Robot 2. Action/Adventure 3. Romance 4. Comedy
Many other anime also take on multiple qualities, which makes it harder. Do you just add the anime to all of them or define it as a single catagory?

I'm not going to say much, but expect a lot of changes to Anime Fuel's layout, infrastructure, and forums after the server update.

i would organize it were it is strongly afilliated to not in multiple genres because the point is to sort it out is to get what ppl want when they go in that genre, but if some are strong just in 2 things put it in 2 genres

Crap, in my sugar induced stupor I forgot about that part of the upgrade process.

However, we should be prepared for "anything" to happen ;)
Plus, the changes that Koopaking talked about, exist in Demon's future idea of how he would like to gradually update and improve this site. It won't happen tomorrow, or instantly day after day. This is still in a form of a concept, which may and probably will get modified before it comes to life.

Sounds good, although I hope that you guys are prepared for the worst. Last time I tried to update my hardware I ended up with an unusable piece of junk for about a week.
