How many of you are interested in the subject of cryptozoology?

I try to keep an open mind, and I've heard legends and seen pictures from many places.
I think one of the saddest days in my life was when the London surgeon revealed that the famous picture of the Loch Ness Monster was in fact a hoax.

Creatures such as the celocanth being discovered alive are enough to keep up interest, but one must also remember that there are those willing to prey on the gullible for a quick profit, so a healthy amount of skepticism is also necessary.

What interest, if any, do you have in the area of cryptozoology?

Yeah actually I think that Cryptozoology is really neat. It's just, mysterious... the unknown, do they exist, or not? I'm not a gullible person, but it's just intriguing, do these fantastic creatures actually live on earth? The ones that I think are neat are the stories of the Sea Monsters. Those are kind of hard to disprove, because the ocean is just so damn big, and so deep, that they can look for years and never find them. Several cryptids have been "discovered" throughout the years like the coelacanth like Ariya said, and also there was like a species of butterfly that was thought to have been extinct, and they found thousands of them. So I think this field is really neat, it's sort of like the UFO sightings too.

I mean, there had to have been some truth in those stories, when sailors washed ashore on driftwood, claiming their ships had been destroyed by sea serpents, right?

it's a good exercise in intrigue. More often it seems they focus on more mythical creatures, but the mystery is usually enough to keep the idea alive. The mothman is another wierd one (though he's thought to be some wierd government creation I believe). I'm still waiting on somebody to haul a bigfoot out of the woods too.
But on a more realistic note, the depths of the ocean are probably the most interesting. Of the stuff that has been found down there, it's often odd and unusual and freaky. very cool stuff. you should check out the BBC planet earth special they do on it, it's really cool.

I'm only interested if the animal they are looking for is not some creature of myth.

I saw something a while back about scientist and such hunting down rare and unseen animals. They got the first footage of some tiger, and actually saw for the first time this wierd moth that had a foot long nose. There's some cool, wierd animals out there.

Yeah, I've been quite interested in it for a long time, without even knowing it.

Edit, On Topic: I've always wondered about the existence of mythical creatures that dwell in the snowy mountains, or perhaps the deepest oceans. And maybe, an unexplored place that is still on Earth full of flying things, and some other mythical beasts, etc.

I mean, I couldn't really doubt that there might be something there. Somebody must have seen it, and it's sad to see that no one believes this one person who knows the truth behind everything.
