As most of you probably know, tomorrow [ 08.08.08 ] is the opening ceremony of The XXIX Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, People's Republic of China.
I am pretty excited as well as looking forward to watch it this year. Since it is such a huge, ceremonial event I was wondering how many of you are interested in watching it, too? And what are the sports, competitions you are interested the most. Do you have any favorites you might supports and cheer on!!?? In general what do you think of this event?

Well i don't watch them, But I still want america to win all the events. The only event that i ever watch is the hockey.

In general, I think it is a great idea... and concept that all of the nations gather together in one place to play sports, to compete with each other.. but in a good, healthy way.... doing it with the passion and in peace.

well i think aot of people are going to over look the games because football is better and people are getting ready for it.

well, i wont go out of my way to watch it, but if i got nothing to do, ill probably watch a bit. I say the US is gonna win a lot. but thats just me.

I probably won't be paying any attention to the Games at all. The only interest for me is that it's being held in China, then I will be paying attention when they choose the next country.

I don't have tv, but I might check up on a few events online. The olympics are cool and all, but I can never be bothered to organize my life around them. Canada will do damage and I'll be proud. of this I know.

I love the olympics!its when all the nations of the world come together in one place,to particapate in many different sports and events....I espeacially like watching soccer and track

How quickly people forget that some countries simply use the Olympics as a political tool to inspire fear, and showboat their power. Or have we forgotten of the 1936 Berlin Olympics?

Well i see the games as who ever wins more medals is the strongest country phisicaly. But some how i always think of America getting mad and just start bombing every thing since we are the military gods of this world.

well china's using this oppurtunity to show off and to prove that they are modern powerful nation so that part i don't approve of. i hope china does horrible so that we can humiliate that country. but otherwise i hope all the other teams do well cause the olympics is a really important event that helps people (not the chinese) get to know each other better.

heck ya im excited my parents actually got tickets to get into the track and feild section so before i go back to college im going to bejing to watch some of it
oh so i only heard about this recently but you know protesters saying free tibet and all that...well i was listening to the news on the radio adn they were talking about how george bush was talking about peoples rights and what not....now i am someone who doesnt really pay attention to bush being that he is just a pile of crap.....but do you think it was really that smart to make such comments to your host country being the fact that you are a representative of a country?

I'll watch it. But I don't agree with the Olympics being held in China this year.
They've committed several human rights violations in the past couple years(Tibet anyone?) and have no indication of stopping.

you realize the chinese government has allowed tibet to particapate in the olympics as a seperate country this year. seriously i still disagree with darfor but over all most chinese disagree with the things the government is doing. i know this because my stepfather goes to china regularly though i doubt he will be going during the olympics because of the increased expences but it seems the moral of the chinese people has been greatly increased. the government has passed laws that will slowly increase air conditions and stop their acts in other countries that wont damage their economy

USA won all THREE medals in fencing! that was our first gold medal in the olympics. china has more gold medals than us right now, but we have the most medals overall. GO USA! they did however kick all the unpleasant people out of the way during the games and even instituted a dress code for anyone living in the vicinity of the olympics. gotta keep up appearances you know.
They're planning to do similar for the winter games here in canada. vancouver's apparently investing in some buses to move the homeless people out of the city while the games are going on. oh what a tiny little world we live in.

It looks the Olympics are back to normal. The US is dominating in swimming, China is dominating in gymnastics, and Russia is dominating in Georgia.
