Okay, E3 has been over for a couple of weeks and the show is closed for another year, and most people will tell you that the show was kinda weak. Unless your fanboyish dream was to see Killzone or Gears of War 2, then disappointment was likely the only thing you felt. Well, I'm sure there were also moments at any of the events, like the German Gaming Convention, past E3, Japanese Game Summit, any of the developer summits, and at the Consumer Electronics Show.

So, which announments from any of these were your favorites that made you spew profanities of fanboy euphoria? This includes announcments for consoles, games, company direction and showing the progress of their company.

When Sony first announced the PS3. That was one of the greatest days of my life.

Also, when Blue-Ray won the Format War, that was a win for Sony, YEAH!

But! The greatest day ever was when they showed the first Trailer for Final Fantasy XIII. For some reason I thought they were going to stop at Final Fantasy XII, don't ask why.

It's called the Format War. And that still pisses me off, it wasn't the consumer that decided the victor. Sony was already one of the major movie studios. Besides that, they were giving cash bonuses to anyone who switched.

Yeah, but Blue-Ray was the clear winner. It holds A LOT more space than HD DVDs. I think that since no one really researched WHY Blue-Ray won and is better they get mad. Same thing with when we went from VCR to DVD, people ASSUMED that they both held the same amount of space, but what they never even bothered to look-up is that it held a lot more space and the picture looked a lot better.

You haven't paid ANY attention to the past wars, have you? It wasn't VHS vs DVD, it was VHS vs BETA. I also think it was DVD vs another format, but Sony was the loser to every format war, with exception to this one. They only won because of the studio changing to blue ray even though there wasn't that big of a gap between the two formats.

If you look, there's another where Sony almost won, First bullet of 1990's. They beat the competitor but the consumer chose neither.

I can't even find a VHS vs DVD thing in here, which pretty much means everyone was aware that the dvd's would be better, after the change from cassette to cd player.

No, havn't been paying attention to nay format wars before I was born and eligible to read, so nothing before 1999. Thanks for the site though.

Well, it sorta makes sense. The MiniDisk wasn't prefect, but I'm sure everyone just wanted to stay with Cassettes and CDs since that's what they were used to.

Well, I was just going by what my mom said. She does have a bad memory so she might have gotten DVD confused with BETA or something.

Could be. I know that there was a pretty devote following to the BETA cassettes while it lasted.

I heard the reason Betamax lost was because the didn't allow porn to be produdced on them and because the didn't hold as much space but they had higher quality. I didn't watch G4s coverage E3 this year so I don't know what was announced.

VHS which won but it was mainly because of the run times.

The only reason Blu Ray won was Wal-mart. If they hadn't been backed by Wal-mart, HD-DVD could have had a better chance.

This year's E3 was meh. No big surprising things for me. I think the best time ever at E3 was E3... 2005 I believe, when they showed a new video of Zelda Twilight Princess [name unknown at the time], and at the end of the video, the name was finally revealed. That was like... Super nerdgasm.

I know, that was just epic. Seeing everyone give the game a standing ovation as arrows bounced off Link's shield and several more stuck in the tree behind him, seeing him run around in the darkness with just a lantern, and that last scene as he sheaths his sword.

I know, Spore looks awesome. I'm going to get the Creature Creator next week after I donate 15 Bucks to AnimeFuel. Also, it was REALLY messed-up when the guy from Square Enix walked back and said he had one more big announcement... Then they started showing a video of Final Fantasy XIII. I was like "What the Hell..."

I wanted to punch them in the face for selling out. FF always was a playstation exclusive and now they release on the xbox. I lost some respect for square enix.

Final Fantasy XIII is only going to be on Xbox 360 for the American release. It's remaining PS3 exclusive in Japan. And I mean, can you blame them? PS3 is a failing system, they want to get on the winning team. In fact, I wasn't even aware that FFXIII wasn't slated to be on 360 in the first place. I thought it was going to be on both from the start.

PS3 isn't really failing anymore. There sales have gone up and they have been releasing amazing games with more to come. Sure it took them a while but they are now putting up a fight. I had the xbox and relized it was terrible so i got the ps3. And i think it was the best choice. The graphics gameplay and system features are amazing. And now the the 80g is coming out for 300 dollars there are going to alot of people switching. The PS3 has not lost yet.

Well, actually the first 6 were all Nintendo Exclusive. Though I do know what you mean.

If your talking about what they said at E3, all they said was that they were going to double the hardrive capacity of the Base PS3 System, the 40 GIG. So as far as I know the starting price is still $499.99. There was no Price Drop at E3.

well GOW2 is already banned in some areas of the world due to explicit content

It seems to me that the console war is slowly shifting from which system has the best games to which system has the most extra features. Netflix, game shows, Blu-Ray, online store, if I want these things, I have a computer already. I don't care. I bought a game system, and damn it I want to play some games, not buy a movie or check my email. I like what they are doing with the Virtual Console and the Xbox Live Arcade, letting you download games, but those game micro-transactions are pure crap. Back in the day, you chose a system based on what games they had, not based on how much money you can save if you buy the system instead of a Blu-Ray player.

Actually, they weren't Sony exclusive for very long, after the ps1 generation they made tactics games on the gameboy's, and Crystal Chronicals on the Gamecube

We were talking about the Main Series, not Sub Series. Main Series as in 1 - 13, sub as in Tactics, Crystal Chronicles, 12 Revenate Wings, etc.
