I was just trying to fall asleep, laying there staring at the wall, the back of my eyelids, the pillow, the ceiling, alternatively, I'm sure you all have done that too, and I found myself wondering, which you may or may not have done too, why is it, that every rpg, or mmorpg out there requires Charisma stat to better control your pet, or increase it's damage/health/armor, I've noticed it in many games, FFXI Online, WoW, Adventure Quest, etc.... and I couldn't help but ask myself, WTF!?, I mean, does your pet really care that you are suddenly that much more charismatic and charming, I mean it's not like I'm going to suddenly sweep my giant prehistoric alligator or vicious scorpion off it's feet(so to speak) in order to get it to do my bidding...I mean I could understand if I was playing a Chobits style beastmaster/hunter/whatever you want to call it, at least then it might make some sense, but what I really think they need to do is change it to or add an Authority stat, I mean it seems to me that's what you need to get your pet to function better, that or a giant electric cattle prod pushing out the equivalent energy of a nuclear explosion, heck if I was a pet I sure as hell would do anything my trainer wanted to avoid getting hit w/ that, what do you all think?

Wut-ho! Jolly good argument, ol' bean.
You're correct, it's actually been proven that people who are constantly petting, grooming, feeding, loving or snuggling their pet end up losing their respect as "the head of the pack", if you will. I'm not sure that an "authority stat" would be very practical but I get where you're coming from. xD

Perhaps if there were some kind of disciplinary item available, such as the one that you mentioned, that you had to use cautiously as it could either raise the pet's obedience or, when overused, make it rebellious.

I can see it now, "Bad dog, bad, misbehave again and I'll hit you w/ my enchanted cattle prod of doom +1, you got that?" or the way I get my dog to behave, I don't need to hit him, I just utter a simple sentence in an annoyed or threatening tone, "if you don't stop (insert bad behavior here), I will beat you like a red headed stepchild" What's really amazing is it seems to work, while at the same time paying homage to a great film
