Hi! I'm new to the forum and a newbie in the anime field. Most of what I've seen has been by Miyazaki. The last film of his that I watched was absolutely wonderful. It was "The Cat Returns" {Eng subs}.
I loved the way the heroine, Haru, matured as a person as she became a cat!::D: One great moment was the way she blushed during the rescue scene as she develops a crush on Humbert!
It has all sorts of great touches such as Yuki turning out to be the little cat she fed early in the film, and the fact that she become mature enough to lose interest in the macho guy she swoons about at first.

Jin Roh (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jin-Roh) is one of my favourite movies (I'm one of those fans of slow, plodding anime). I still love the Patlabor series (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patlabor). I quite enjoyed Noein, which was played on ABC2 recently. I'm enjoying Death Note (still playing). I half wish they were subbing that one instead of dubbing, but I also suspect I might not keep up with the intense dialogue if it were subbed ;)

I love most of what I have seen from Miyazaki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hayao_Miyazaki), though "spirited away" and "kiki's delivery service" didn't do anything for me. Nausicaä (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nausica%C3%A4_of_the_Valley_of_the_Wind) is my favourite of what I have seen.

Obviously there are others.. GITS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghost_in_the_shell) for example. Too many to list, really.

I hated Ergo Proxy. The whole thing was pointless at every level, while still giving enough of an impression that the guys behind it knew what they were doing to keep you watching... just to be further disappointed. Obviously Evangelion (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neon_Genesis_Evangelion_(TV_series)) is great.

Macross Plus was fantastic, but the DVD release in Australia cut out all the important parts of the story (crime, redemption). Really sad. Ninja Scroll was among my earlier animes... so so. Good if you like that kind of thing. Guyver (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bio_Booster_Armor_Guyver) was an early anime that drew me into the Genre, though it fizzled after a fairly small number of episodes.

I think Lain was worth watching all the way to the end. It's told backwards, so you don't understand anything you watch until the last few episodes explain it all. Cowboy Bebop the series was fantastic. The movie so, so. What I have seen of Naruto has been awesome. I can't get enough. Avatar the last airbender: Best kids anime ever.

I'm giving lucky star a go at the moment, mostly on the strength of its awesome opening sequence (http://youtube.com/watch?v=ViEH57xQu1c) and parody (http://youtube.com/watch?v=vz8laViiexc). I haven't quite found anything to love about it as yet, but it might grow on me still ;)

I'm sure I'm forgetting heaps more, and I really haven't scratched below the surface of Anime generally.

I've just seen this amazing anime film. It's much darker and more angry than any other Miyazaki I've seen so far. An interesting feature is that Lady Eboshi is not actually evil. She rescues girls from brothels and gives them asense of self-worth and dignity. She also has a place for Lepers in her iron fort. She just has the wrong principles and in the end she is saved--though she loses her arm.
I really enjoyed the wonderful ecological theme--the conflict between Nature and Industrialization. At the end is wonderfully transforming.

I've reached episode 10 of 12 Kingdoms. There's a long way to go but I'm really enjoying this marvellous anime. I ordered the two books by Ono of the series and the first has arrived. Unfortunately it's volume 2! it looks quite interesting and uses illustrations in the anime graphic style. I'll give my opinion of the series after i get the first volume.

This is the most sorrowful anime film I've ever seen! I understand that the novelist who wrote the original story based many of the incidents on his own experiences during the closing days of WWII in Japan. The film is very powerful and very emotional. I think it should be watched in a single sitting and one should be emotionally prepared before actually viewing it.

I've finished the first story arc and find this a very rewarding series. Not only does Yoko finally find herself, so does her chief rival. The embrace at the end of the episode is a perfect upbeat conclusion. It's not really the end for either because both girls have to face the challenges which their respective choices have opened up for them. I like the way we get a good summary of everything in episode 14.

Yu Yu Hakusho !!! Yusuke is awesome !! 100+ episodes, and there all fantastic, and every season is better then the last. The villains get stronger and dangerous, and not ridiculous, from Rando, the 4 Saint Beasts, Toguro, Sensei, and the 3 Kings of Demon World. Errr i love this series !! Great characters, great stories, great action, great moments, great music, TOTAL GREATNESS !!!
